Clear River Games, in collaboration with Japanese publisher and developer City Connection, brings this iconic game to modern platforms, complete with new features and enhancements.
Originally developed by G.rev and released in arcades in 2005 before making its way to the Dreamcast in 2006, Under Defeat puts players in the cockpit of one of four combat helicopters. Whether playing solo or in two-player co-op, you’ll be shooting down waves of enemies across land, air, and sea. The game features a unique 3D semi-isometric playfield, allowing players to tilt their shots left or right for strategic advantage.
Under Defeat offers multiple game modes to suit different playstyles. The classic Arcade Mode faithfully replicates the original arcade experience with a 4:3 ratio and a pseudo vertical screen. For those looking for a modern twist, New Order Mode adapts the game for widescreen 16:9 displays. Additionally, New Order Mode+ introduces brand new mechanics, including a ‘WARNING GAUGE’ that adds a risk/reward element to the gameplay.
This ultimate version of Under Defeat, developed by retro port specialists City Connection, includes DLC content previously only available in Japan. The game also boasts an incredible soundtrack, newly arranged by the original composer, video game music veteran Shinji Hosoe, and his company, Super Sweep.
Under Defeat is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
