Magic Chess: Go Go Set for APAC Grand Launch on February 21, Hits 15 Million Pre-Registrations

MOONTON Games is thrilled to announce the APAC Grand Launch of Magic Chess: Go Go (MCGG) on February 21. This free-to-play multiplayer strategy game will be available for download on iOS and Android in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Previously soft-launched in Malaysia and Singapore on November 29, 2024, MCGG has already garnered over 15 million pre-registrations, making it one of the most anticipated mobile games of 2025.

Developed by the original team behind Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), MCGG immerses players in the same beloved universe. Players become master strategists, commanding familiar MLBB Heroes like Layla, Nana, and Chou to create their ultimate forces. Each Chessboard hosts eight players in Player versus Player (PvP) combat, where individual players test their real-time decision-making and strategies through multiple rounds to become the last strategist standing.

Gao “Skyhook” Chong, MCGG Producer at MOONTON Games, shared, “In MLBB lore, MCGG is a widely popular game in the Land of Dawn. Created by a ‘mysterious game designer,’ MCGG’s Commanders, Go Go Cards, and Synergies are based on the heroes, legends, and stories circulating in the continent. With the APAC Grand Launch, we are bringing this concept to the real world, offering gamers a fresh competitive field to enjoy the rich and immersive world of MLBB.”

Season 1, titled “Rising Dawn,” will offer players a host of free and exclusive rewards. By playing MCGG, players can receive 14 Commanders (1-Star), the “Ruins of Fall” Chessboard Skin, and skins like the “Plasma Gunner” Commander Layla Skin for free. MLBB players can also claim the free X.Borg “Pecados Rioter” skin in MLBB by linking their accounts and completing missions in MCGG.

Each MCGG season will introduce new gameplay mechanics to keep the experience fresh. The inaugural season will feature a seasonal Two-Player Mode, launching in March, where players pair up to battle other duos. Teamwork is crucial, as each player in a duo can send a 1-star hero to their partner for additional support. The team’s overall standing will be determined by the higher-ranked player in the duo. Season 1 will also see the debut of fan-favorite Miya, the Moonlight Archer, as a Commander in MCGG.

Veteran players of Magic Chess, the arcade game mode within MLBB, will have their inventories converted at 100% value into MCGG currency—comprising Golden Diamonds, Gift Tickets, and Passes—as part of the Gratitude Event. These can be exchanged for Commanders and skins in the MCGG Shop, which will be updated periodically.

Gao added, “MCGG is the culmination of many years of dedicated development and testing. But our APAC Grand Launch is only the beginning. We will be rolling out more exciting initiatives in the coming weeks and months, including much-requested esports tournaments, which is one of our immediate priorities for MCGG.”
