The battle royale that started it all is hitting a major milestone! KRAFTON, Inc. is celebrating the 8th anniversary of PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS with the release of Update 34.2, bringing a wave of festive decorations, Arcade mode enhancements, a brand-new Survivor Pass, and much more to the iconic shooter. The update is live on PC as of March 12th, and console players can expect it to arrive on March 20th.
Prepare for a birthday bash across the battlegrounds, as PUBG gets a makeover with celebratory decorations scattered across various maps. Keep an eye out for special care packages, festive energy drinks, and even a starting plane decked out for the occasion. The starting island will feature a Bobble Bot statue, allowing players to throw special golden grenades and immortalize their names for all to see.
The anniversary celebrations extend beyond visual flair, with a brand new lobby music track created in collaboration with M83, the globally acclaimed French electronic music group known for their atmospheric, cinematic sound.
Anniversary Events and Exclusive Rewards:
The celebration doesn’t stop there! A series of special anniversary events will offer players the opportunity to earn exclusive rewards:
- Web Event: Access the in-game lobby banner to claim the 8th Anniversary Pack and a Lucky G-Coin Box.
- Special Drops Missions: Participate in missions like “8th Anniversary with You,” “8th Anniversary Surprise,” “Lucky 8,” and “Mission: 8” to earn rewards such as the 8th Anniversary Crown emblem, nameplates, a Victory Dance, event tokens, and contraband coupons.
- Hidden Code Event: Explore Erangel in search of hidden treasures and surprises, adding a layer of exploration to the anniversary festivities.
Arcade Mode Revamp:
Update 34.2 brings significant improvements to Arcade mode, including:
- New Team Deathmatch Maps: Engage in fast-paced combat on new maps like Deston Arena, Vikendi Train Station, and Sanhok Camp Bravo.
- Adjusted Spawn Kits: Experience enhanced starting loadouts for a more balanced and engaging gameplay experience.
- Fully Randomized Maps in Intense Battle Royale: Keep the adrenaline pumping with unpredictable map rotations in Intense Battle Royale mode.
- Weapon Attachment Changes & Random LMG Crate: Expect changes to how weapons handle and the exciting addition of a random LMG Crate to shake up your loadout options.
- Increased Custom Match Player Cap: Host even larger custom matches with a player cap of 100, fostering bigger and more chaotic battles.
- Hot Drop Returns with 64 Players: Dive into higher-intensity matches with Hot Drop supporting up to 64 players.
Gunplay Balance Adjustments:
The update also includes gunplay balance adjustments based on feedback from January’s Gunplay Labs: Aim Punch test, further refining the combat experience. Another round of testing is planned for March to ensure the changes are well-received.
