Natlan’s Volcano Beckons Fire and Fury in Genshin Impact’s 5.5 Update

The earth trembles, not with fear, but with anticipation. Players are about to plunge into the heart of Natlan’s Great Volcano in Genshin Impact’s upcoming Version 5.5, “Day of the Flame’s Return,” set to ignite on March 26th. Forget gentle breezes and tranquil meadows; this update is a molten crucible of adventure, promising to forge new legends in the fiery depths of Teyvat.

HoYoverse has revealed a landscape transformed, where the towering Tollan Volcano, a sacred mountain whispered in legends, now opens its gates to explorers. The journey isn’t just a scenic trek; it’s a descent into a slumbering ancient city, built by the Dragonborn, where the “Flamelord’s Blessing” and the mystery of a “Little One” await discovery. To reach this hidden city, players must learn a unique method, adding a layer of intrigue to their exploration.

The path to the volcano’s heart is not without its inhabitants. The Collective of Plenty, a tribe devoted to physical prowess and bountiful harvests, welcomes travelers with open arms and friendly competitions. But the volcano is a fickle neighbor, and when it erupts, players can harness the power of the Tatankasaurus, a new Saurian companion. This formidable creature can smash through volcanic debris and even traverse liquid Phlogiston, adding a dynamic layer to both exploration and combat.

Speaking of combat, Version 5.5 introduces two new playable characters: Varesa and Iansan. Varesa, a 5-star Electro Catalyst user, wields the power of Plunging Attacks to unleash her Fiery Passion state, dealing devastating Electro DMG. Her laid-back personality belies her fierce combat abilities, as revealed in her Tribal Chronicle. Iansan, a 4-star Electro Polearm wielder and Varesa’s mentor, provides crucial support, boosting the on-field character’s ATK and healing allies. Her unique kit scales with movement, adding a tactical layer to team compositions. These two characters, along with the Tatankasaurus, promise to shake up the meta and offer fresh gameplay experiences.

Beyond the new characters and landscapes, Version 5.5 brings back the beloved Bloomflower Trials, where players team up with Natlan allies to save a Saurian from a rare illness. The “Saurian Treasure Seeker” mini-game adds a playful touch, allowing players to guide baby Saurians in their quest for shiny treasures. Completing these events will reward players with the opportunity to add Ororon to their roster, for free.

The update also addresses player feedback with significant system optimizations. Artifact leveling receives a major overhaul, with Sanctifying Elixirs guaranteeing at least two upgrades to defined Minor Affixes, streamlining the process of building powerful characters. A new formidable boss, the Lava Dragon Statue, lurks in the volcano’s geothermal fissures, challenging even the most seasoned adventurers.

Version 5.5 launches on March 26th.
