The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL Malaysia) Season 15 kicked off with a bang as defending champions, Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG), showcased their dominance in a sold-out season opener. The back-to-back champions swept last season’s Grand Finalists, Team Vamos (VMS), 2-0, securing the top spot in the Week 1 standings.
SRG’s Innocent Shines Bright
SRG’s Gold Laner, John “Innocent” Vincent Banal, emerged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) with a stellar performance in Game 1. In a historic moment, Innocent achieved a Savage—scoring five enemy kills in quick succession—while all his teammates were down. This marked the first time in MPL Malaysia history that a player accomplished a Savage in the opening match. Innocent’s heroics didn’t stop there; he single-handedly charged into VMS’ base, destroying their crystal and securing SRG’s first game win. SRG then closed off Game 2 in just 11 minutes, continuing their dominance over VMS, who failed to win a single match against SRG last year.
Historic Recognition and Landmark Partnership
Following their match, SRG was honored by the Malaysia Book of Records for being the first team to win the Esports World Cup x Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024. Their victory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, last year marked a significant milestone as the first major MLBB Esports tournament win for Malaysia. The award was presented by Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Adam Adli, on April 19, 2025. During a press conference, YB Adam praised SRG’s landmark partnership with OG Esports, highlighting its importance for the development of local talent.
“I am incredibly proud to see a homegrown team like SRG collaborate with a prestigious institution like OG Esports. This partnership is not just an acknowledgment of our talent but a blueprint for developing future stars,” said YB Adam.
Day 2 Highlights and Standings
Day 2 saw Homebois (HB) triumph over AERO Esports (AERO). Despite both teams revamping their rosters, HB’s new loan signing, EXP Laner Kenley “Vell” Nathaniel Zefanya, stood out with a Kill-Death-Assists (KDA) of 5/2/10, earning him the MVP title. Vell’s tempo-setting abilities will be crucial for HB’s title aspirations this season.
In another exciting match, three-time MPL Malaysia champions Todak (TDK) were humbled by Monster Vicious (MV) with a 2-0 defeat. TDK, who recently secured their spot in the International Esports Federation World Esports Championship (WEC) 2025, were outplayed by MV, known for their reputation as giant killers.
At the end of Week 1, SRG, HB, and MV are tied at the top of the standings with three points each.
Season 15 Regular Season Tiebreaker Rules
Teams are ranked based on Live Points, earned from Best-Of-Three match results. A 2-0 win grants three points, a 2-1 win gives two points, a 1-2 loss earns one point, and a 0-2 loss results in zero points. If teams are tied, Aggregate Points—based on the number of winning games—will be used as the next tiebreaker, followed by head-to-head records.

Looking Ahead to Week 2
Week 2 of MPL Malaysia Season 15 will take place from April 25 to 27, 2025. Fans are eagerly anticipating the Day 3 clash between SRG and MV, a showdown between two of the top teams.
MPL Malaysia is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), Rakan Muda, Esports Integrated (ESI), the Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF), and Persatuan Stadium Malaysia (PSM).
