Bollywood-Inspired Cozy Mystery Game: Detective Dotson Now Available on PC

Indie game developer Masala Games has officially launched its highly-anticipated debut title, Detective Dotson, on PC. This charming mystery adventure game, set in a stylized rendition of modern-day India, puts players in the shoes of Dotson, a reluctant detective with dreams of becoming a Bollywood star.

Detective Dotson is part of the Xbox Developer Acceleration Program and is now available on Steam, with a Microsoft Store release coming soon. The game is also compatible with the Steam Deck.

“After three years in development, we’re finally ready to bring Detective Dotson into the world,” says Shalin Shodhan, Founder and CEO of Masala Games. “India is missing from gaming culture and we are on a mission to fix that with projects like Detective Dotson. It’s a celebration of our beautiful, funny, and ever-adventurous homeland — India.”

Post-Launch Content and Features

Steam-related features like achievements will be added by May 1. Post-launch, Detective Dotson will receive additional single-player content in the form of new chapters that continue right after the game’s conclusion. Players can also look forward to new mini-games, fresh environments, and a co-op mode, which will be available for PC at the same time it launches on consoles later this year. All of these updates will be included in the base game at no extra cost.

Pricing and Discounts

At launch, Detective Dotson is priced at $15 USD, with a 10% launch discount. “We want to be sensitive to how customers view pricing to ensure value,” says Shalin Shodhan. “This made us realize that $15 would be a fair price at launch. And while we have more content slated post-release, we may consider a price hike at that time. For now, though, Detective Dotson will be $15. As always, we welcome your feedback and support.”

Upcoming Console Releases

Xbox Series X|S versions of the game with Xbox Play Anywhere support, along with PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2 releases, are planned for later this year.
