G2 Esports has officially cemented its legacy in VALORANT esports history, claiming its second consecutive VCT Americas title with a commanding 3-1 victory over Sentinels in the Grand Final of VCT Americas Stage 1. But this championship run wasn’t built in a single match — it was the culmination of a dominant campaign that started all the way back in the group stage.

Group Stage Dominance: G2’s Road to the Top

Entering the stage as reigning VCT Americas Kickoff champions, G2 was placed in Group Omega and quickly proved they were the team to beat. They kicked off with a clean 2-0 sweep over FURIA, setting the tone for the rest of the stage. The momentum didn’t stop there — G2 battled past MIBR in a close 2-1, dismantled NRG 2-0, and survived tough challenges from Leviatán and Cloud9 to close the group stage with a flawless 5-0 record.

Bouncing Back in the Playoffs

Despite entering the playoffs as the top seed, G2’s momentum was briefly halted by Sentinels in a nail-biting 1-2 loss. Sent to the lower bracket, G2 refused to fold. They clawed their way back with gritty wins over 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses, and MIBR, earning a shot at redemption in the Grand Final — and a coveted spot at Masters Toronto.

Grand Final Recap: G2 vs Sentinels

The rematch lived up to the hype. G2 opened strong by stealing Haven, Sentinels’ map pick, with a 13-9 comeback after trailing at halftime. On Split, both teams were neck and neck, but G2’s five-round streak in the second half secured a 13-8 win and a 2-0 series lead.

Sentinels rallied on Pearl, dominating the first half with a 10-2 lead. G2 fought back valiantly with six straight rounds, but the gap was too wide, and Sentinels took the map 13-8.

With the pressure on, G2 returned to their map pick, Ascent. Sentinels led 7-5 at the half, but G2’s impenetrable defense proved too much. They locked down the map with an 8-2 second half, sealing a 13-9 victory and clinching the championship 3-1.

With this win, G2 Esports becomes the first team in 2025 to win two VCT Americas trophies, continuing their rise as a powerhouse in the VALORANT Champions Tour. Both G2 and Sentinels, along with MIBR, will represent the Americas region at Masters Toronto, where international competition awaits.
