JAKARTA, Indonesia–The Gaming Districts was fortunate to attend the VCT Ascension Pacific 2024 at The BritAma Arena in Jakarta last weekend and it was definitely a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, and even days after.
Home town bet, BOOM Esports’ never-say-die attitude saw them reach the finals much to the joy and excitement of the crowd that showed-up over finals weekend. Even fighting off a 0-2 deficit from eventual champions Sin Prisa Gaming, forcing multiple overtimes to show Pacific and even the world some of the best VALORANT plays the game has ever seen since its launch back in 2020.
The cheers of the crowd as BOOM Esports when the best-of-five series was turned to a best-of-one map, fueled the Indonesian team to win it all for their country.

But the Cinderella run would eventually end in heartbreak as the fourth overtime of Map 5 saw a clutch play from SPG’s Yang “Persia” Zi-on with just 0.5 seconds left to the defuse which would have given BOOM Esports another chance to ascend to VCT Pacific.
With SPG celebrating on the stage, BOOM Esports exited the arena amidst shouts of encouragement from the home crowd and a promise to do better in next year’s Valorant season.
But the universe seemed to have another plan as last Friday, October 4, Riot Games made an announcement that shook the entire region.
Last year’s Ascension team, Bleed Esports, would be removed from VCT Pacific due to non-compliance with the league’s Team Participation Agreement (TPA) and with the vacant slot, BOOM Esports would also be promoted to the VCT Pacific League.
As the announcement made rounds online, players on both teams shared their reaction to the news with BOOM Esports’ social media account leading the posting of funny memes, being in disbelief as how the tides have turned.
It’s been definitely a week for Valorant Pacific fans and with Gamechangers in full swing, it’s sure not going to slow down any time soon.
