Indie developer Ostend Games has officially announced that their debut title, Desktop Fishing, will launch for Windows PC via Steam on June 17, 2025. Even better? A major demo update is already live and ready to play.

Desktop Fishing is not your typical idle game. At the heart of the experience is a peaceful little frog who quietly fishes at the corner of your screen as you go about your day. Whether you’re writing reports, editing videos, or just browsing the web, your amphibian friend is hard at work catching fish—and earning you in-game currency while doing it.
You can choose to interact as much or as little as you like. Want to reel in a fish manually during a quick break? Go for it. Prefer to let the frog handle things while you focus on your to-do list? That works too. The game is built to be completely non-intrusive while still delivering moments of charm and progression.
“We wanted the game to complement your workday, not interrupt it,” says Hagen, one of the four co-founders of Ostend Games. “Our goal was to make something calming—something that’s just there when you need a mental reset.”

Available now on Steam, the updated demo offers a polished look at the game’s core features, with additional content and refinements based on player feedback. If you’ve tried the earlier version, now’s the time to dive back in.

The story of Desktop Fishing is almost as cozy as the game itself. What started as a side project quickly gained momentum after receiving overwhelming support from the community. The Berlin-based studio Ostend Games—formed by four friends who met during their game design studies—expanded the title into a full-featured release with the help of the DE:HIVE Incubator Programme.
This creative hub has helped launch notable indie titles like Dorfromantik and ABRISS – Build to Destroy, and now Desktop Fishing joins the ranks as one of the program’s most promising upcoming games.
