Grifford Academy Launches in Early Access, Promises Deep Community Involvement Ahead of 1.0 Release

LandShark Games’ coming-of-age RPG Grifford Academy is now officially available in Early Access, setting the stage for a wider 1.0 release in 2026. Priced at $14.99 / €14.99 / £12.79 (with a 20% launch discount), the game invites players into a magical, character-driven world—and into the development process itself.

A Magical Blend of Turn-Based Strategy and Isekai Narrative

Set in the mysterious book-bound realm of Caldria, Grifford Academy follows three teenage protagonists—Erika, Viva, and Cap—as they navigate both supernatural threats and emotional growth. Billed as a “lite academia” RPG, the game combines streamlined turn-based combat, deep character development, and an ambitious isekai storyline that aims to engage fans of fantasy, anime, and tactics RPGs alike.

Paul Naylor, founder of LandShark Games, shared his vision for Early Access:

“Early Access was always something we wanted to dial into with Grifford Academy. Our game has a strong character focus, but this extends well outside of the narrative. It’s a game about growth in many forms, and EA allows us to explore that fully, especially from a more systemic perspective. Players’ insights and feedback will help us plot a path to 1.0.”

Community-Powered Roadmap & Upcoming Features

From day one, LandShark Games has committed to open development. Players won’t just play the game—they’ll help shape its evolution. The Early Access Roadmap, now available on Steam, includes features and systems that the devs plan to prioritize based on community input. Confirmed upcoming additions include:

  • 🧪 Recipe Hunting
  • 🐾 Pets
  • ♻️ Roguelite Mode

This ongoing iteration will give players a front-row seat—and a say—in how Grifford Academy matures into its full 1.0 version in 2026.

A Character-Driven Journey with Tactical Depth

Grifford Academy promises a unique twist on tactical RPGs by stripping back overly complex systems in favor of approachability and story richness. It’s a game for fans of games like Fire Emblem, Persona, or Octopath Traveler, but who want a lighter, more narrative-led experience.

With its mix of teen angst, ancient magic, and tactical wizardry, Grifford Academy is shaping up to be one of the more refreshing indie RPGs on the horizon.
