The Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion is set to launch worldwide on July 30, 2025, bringing Lugia, Ho-Oh, and a host of classic Johto Pokémon into the fast-growing mobile TCG experience.
The update comes alongside major enhancements to the game’s trade system, designed to make card exchanges more streamlined and social.
🌊 Wisdom of Sea and Sky: A Legendary Expansion
The Wisdom of Sea and Sky expansion celebrates the Johto region — first introduced in Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver — and brings back nostalgic favorites including Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and of course, the Legendary duo Lugia and Ho-Oh.
A key innovation in this expansion is the introduction of Pokémon with Energy-free attacks, opening up entirely new deck-building strategies. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a competitive Trainer, the new mechanics promise to shake up the meta in exciting ways.
🔁 Trade System Overhaul Launches July 30
The update on July 30 at 06:00 UTC will also roll out big changes to the game’s trade feature, making it more player-friendly and flexible.
Here’s what’s changing:
✅ New Wishlist Feature
- Players can add up to 20 cards to a wishlist via the My Cards screen.
- Highlight 3 key cards from that list to showcase on your profile during trades.
- Makes finding and offering the right trades faster and easier.
🪙 Trade Tokens Retired
- Trade tokens are being phased out.
- No need to exchange cards for trade currency anymore.
- Instead, trades for rarer cards (♦♦♦, ♦♦♦♦, ★) will require shinedust.
✨ What is Shinedust?
- A new resource gained by:
- Completing missions and achievements
- Collecting duplicate cards
- Players can exchange their existing trade tokens for pack hourglasses or shinedust via the in-game shop.
⚠️ Note: You’ll no longer be able to trade cards for trade tokens starting July 30 at 01:00 UTC, so make sure to convert or spend them before the update hits.
