Mystery fans, sharpen your deductive skills: Agatha Christie – Death on the Nile is preparing to set sail this autumn. Publisher Microids and Microids Studio Lyon have released a brand-new gameplay trailer titled “How to Be a Brilliant Detective?”—offering the most in-depth look yet at the investigative mechanics players will master when the game launches on September 25, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
A Stylish 1970s Take on Christie’s Classic Mystery
Set against a reimagined 1970s backdrop, the game blends Poirot’s timeless mystery-solving with the cultural energy of the era—complete with disco beats, flared trousers, and a stylish original soundtrack (now fully available on streaming platforms).
The new trailer highlights the skills players will need to embody Hercule Poirot and private detective Jane Royce as they chase leads, gather evidence, and interrogate suspects across multiple locations.
Gameplay Features to Master
The upcoming title introduces a wealth of investigative mechanics designed to immerse players in Christie’s world of intrigue, including:
- Puzzle-solving and crime scene reconstructions
- Discreet listening and tailing suspects
- In-depth inspections of crime scenes and key objects
- Interrogations and confrontations with witnesses and suspects
- The Mind Palace system, featuring clue associations and 2D Puzzle Workshops
Players will also use an enhanced mindmap system to piece together evidence, build suspect profiles, and push suspects into revealing the truth with a confrontation mechanic.
Expanded Story Beyond the Classic Novel
Unlike a direct adaptation, Death on the Nile introduces fresh twists, characters, and subplots. A dual-protagonist story unfolds as players switch between Poirot and the new character Jane Royce, taking them from London to Mallorca, New York, and eventually Egypt, where both storylines converge in Abu Simbel.
Longtime Christie fans can expect surprises, while newcomers will find an accessible entry point to the Queen of Crime’s world.
