The Pokémon Company International has revealed the next fiery addition to the Pokémon Trading Card Game (Pokémon TCG): Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames. Launching on November 14, this expansion brings iconic Mega Evolution Pokémon back into the spotlight, with a strong focus on Fire-type and Darkness-type favorites.
Mega Charizard X and Mega Gengar Take Center Stage
Fans can look forward to powerful new cards featuring Mega Charizard X and Mega Gengar, alongside the debut of new Pokémon ex cards within the Mega Evolution Series. The set continues the trend of ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards showcasing a unique art style, often featuring a silhouette of the Pokémon’s standard form in the background for added flair.

The Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames set includes:
- 6 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
- 4 Pokémon ex
- 13 illustration rare Pokémon
- 17 ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Trainer, and Energy cards
- 5 special illustration rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and Supporter cards
Cards from the expansion will be available in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and special collections across participating retailers in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Play Early at Prerelease Events
Pokémon TCG fans won’t have to wait until launch to get their hands on the new cards. Prerelease tournaments will be held starting November 1, 2025 as part of the Play! Pokémon program, giving players a chance to test the expansion before its official debut.
Digital Release on Pokémon TCG Live
For those who prefer digital play, Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames will arrive on the Pokémon TCG Live app on November 13, 2025, one day before the physical release. Available on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows, the app will let trainers collect new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards and unlock in-game rewards simply by logging in.
