Tic-tac-toe just got a chaotic, strategic makeover. Indie solo developer unbreaded, in partnership with publishing platform indie.io, has announced that Tic Tactic, a roguelike deckbuilding puzzle battler, will officially launch on September 18, exclusively on Steam.
A Classic Game Reborn as a Roguelike
At its core, Tic Tactic transforms the simple mechanics of tic-tac-toe into a high-stakes, turn-based battle system. Instead of clearing after each round, the board persists—meaning every move builds toward devastating combos or disastrous mistakes. Success hinges on smart tile placement, creating powerful patterns to attack enemies, counter strategies, and trigger chain reactions that can turn the tide of battle.
Each run is procedurally generated, introducing new enemies, environments, and narrative revelations. Players will slowly unravel the mystery behind the cryptic events at the Duck Pond, all while battling to survive.
Deckbuilding Meets Puzzle Strategy
Tic Tactic adds a fresh layer of depth with over two dozen unique tiles that can be built into a customizable deck. Tiles carry different abilities—from precision strikes to full board wipes—giving players the tools to experiment and adapt. As enemies grow stronger, every run challenges players to refine strategies, discover synergies, and take risks to push further.
An Odd World Full of Danger and Humor
The game’s quirky, surreal tone sets it apart from traditional puzzle battlers. Players will journey through strange landscapes, meet eccentric survivors, and piece together a feather-filled mystery. With its roguelike progression system, no two runs feel the same—procedurally generated challenges, evolving strategies, and leaderboard competition keep the experience fresh and unpredictable.
