SEGA has officially launched Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the latest entry in its high-speed racing series, now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. PC players can jump in starting today, September 26, with the Steam and Epic Games Store versions now live.
Alongside its global release, SEGA also dropped a major surprise: Mega Man and Proto Man have joined the roster as part of the Season Pass’ Wave 4 content, bundled with the Digital Deluxe Edition. Fans of the Blue Bomber can blaze through the Wily Castle track and speed ahead in style with the Rush Roadster vehicle.
CrossWorld Chaos: Racing Through Dimensions
CrossWorlds isn’t just another racing game—it’s a multiverse thrill ride. Each three-lap race is split across multiple worlds thanks to the new Travel Ring system, which warps racers into alternate versions of the track mid-race. Expect transformed environments, new obstacles, randomized Frenzy events, and shortcuts that keep every lap unpredictable.
The Biggest Roster Yet
SEGA promises the largest character lineup in Sonic racing history with 23 base racers, spanning heroes, rivals, and fan-favorites. That roster is only growing, with crossover guests like Hatsune Miku, Persona 5’s Joker, and Like a Dragon’s Ichiban Kasuga confirmed for a free update. Premium DLC will also bring in Minecraft, SpongeBob SquarePants, and PAC-MAN, making this the most ambitious crossover racing event yet.
Build, Customize, Dominate
Customization runs deep in CrossWorlds. Players can equip their Machines with over 70 gadgets, unlocking new abilities and strategies. Every vehicle can be tricked out with thousands of possible combinations across parts, colors, decals, and textures—more than 70,000 setups in total. Whether you prefer sleek speedsters or tanky power builds, there’s a Machine to fit your racing style.
Online Racing with Crossplay Support
For the first time in the series, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds features full crossplay across consoles and PC. Players can race together in 12-player World Matches, tackle team-based Festival events, or chase records in Time Trial mode. Local play is also supported, with up to eight players racing together on Nintendo Switch.
Digital Deluxe Edition & Season Pass
The Digital Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with the Season Pass, which unlocks crossover content, new Machines, and exclusive tracks over time. Already included are Nine, Rusty Rose, and Dread from Sonic Prime. With Mega Man now blasting onto the racetrack, fans can expect even more surprises in the months ahead.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is out now—so grab your controller, hit the Travel Rings, and race across worlds like never before.
