A new era of sci-fi samurai storytelling has arrived. During the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted, Chaos Manufacturing officially unveiled SOL Shogunate, a single-player, third-person action RPG set in a bold alternate future where the solar system bows to the way of the sword. Blending space opera spectacle with the elegance and brutality of samurai combat, SOL Shogunate promises a cinematic adventure unlike anything in the genre.
A Solar System Ruled by the Sword
SOL Shogunate sends players across a fully colonized solar system governed by a powerful shogunate—one whose centuries-long dominance now stands on the brink of rebellion. Players follow Yuzuki, the last surviving heir of a noble samurai bloodline wiped out by a rival clan. Her journey begins not as a warrior of prestige, but as a hunted ronin carving a path of retribution through the neon-lit metropolises of the moon.
Each moon city is a marvel of astro-feudal engineering: sprawling districts with artificial gravity, towering space elevators, high-speed transit, and lavish enclaves where the elite indulge in Earthlike luxury. Beneath them, however, lies a world built on sacrifice—where overworked laborers sustain the shogunate’s grip on power in the shadows.
Chaos Manufacturing showcased the game’s world and combat style through the dramatic announcement trailer, now live for fans eager to witness the blend of sci-fi spectacle and samurai tradition.
Precision Blade Combat Reforged for the Future
At the heart of SOL Shogunate is its fast, fluid, and ferocious combat. Yuzuki wields a futuristic arsenal rooted in classical samurai technique but rewritten for interstellar battlefields. Players can channel elemental energy into attacks to create powerful combos, counter enemy resistances, and dominate each encounter.
As Yuzuki grows in strength, new skills, gene splices, and combat abilities unlock—allowing players to adapt their fighting style. From bio-ceramic skin to enhanced vision and advanced mobility upgrades, every enhancement pushes Yuzuki closer to becoming the ultimate weapon.
In a standout design feature, major encounters are scored with dynamic music that intensifies alongside the action. Chaos Manufacturing partnered with Japanese rock artists—including AliA (アリア)—to craft boss battles that feel like explosive, emotionally charged music videos fused with cinematic combat.
CEO Guy Costantini describes the vision: “With our debut SOL Shogunate, we’re realizing our vision for the first samurai space opera, which brings fluid, spectacle-driven combat to a sci-fi universe that pays homage to the majesty of feudal Japanese tradition. We’re fusing combat, story, and music into an experience that we hope players will find thrilling, emotional, and unforgettable.”
