Indie racing hit Formula Legends has received a major new update, bringing fresh content, gameplay improvements, and new racing challenges across multiple platforms. Developer 3DClouds announced the expansion on March 12, introducing both free content and a premium DLC pack that expands the game’s motorsport timeline even further.
Available now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms—with the Nintendo version arriving later this month—the latest update continues the studio’s steady stream of post-launch content for the popular sim-cade racer.
A Racing Game That Celebrates 70 Years of Motorsport
Since its launch in September 2025, Formula Legends has gained a dedicated fan base for its unique mix of arcade accessibility and simulation-style racing mechanics. The game allows players to experience multiple eras of open-wheel racing, recreating the technological evolution of motorsport across decades.
The newest update reinforces that theme by adding both futuristic racing technology and vintage racing nostalgia, giving players a chance to experience how dramatically the sport has changed.
With this update, the game now represents over 70 years of open-wheel racing history, spanning:
- 19 different rule eras
- 14 global locations
- 33 track configurations
It’s a growing playground for racing fans who want to explore both the past and future of competitive motorsport.
New Free Content Introduced in the Update
The latest update introduces several major additions available to all players at no extra cost.
Late 2020s Open-Wheel Racing Car
One of the highlights is a new Late 2020s race car inspired by modern open-wheel technology. This futuristic machine introduces more strategic gameplay elements that mirror the complexity of modern motorsport.
Players must now manage:
- Battery charge levels
- Boost deployment timing
- Downforce modes, switching between low-downforce A Mode and high-downforce B Mode
The car can be used in Time Trial and Custom Race modes, giving players the opportunity to master its advanced systems.
Late 1950s Classic Championship
Balancing the futuristic addition is a nostalgic look back at the sport’s early years. The update introduces a Late 1950s championship, complete with period-accurate teams, drivers, and racing challenges.
This vintage experience captures the raw intensity of early open-wheel racing, where cars were powerful but far less refined than their modern counterparts.
Temple of Speed – Vintage Track Configuration
The update also adds a new historic configuration of the famous “Temple of Speed” circuit, inspired by classic motorsport venues like Autodromo Nazionale Monza.
This retro version features dramatic high-speed banked corners and unique era-specific challenges that demand precision and bravery from players.
Premium DLC: Late 2020s Season Pack
Alongside the free update, 3DClouds has released a paid expansion that dives deeper into modern racing.
The Late 2020s Season Pack costs approximately:
- £4.99 GBP
- €4.99 EUR
- $5.99 USD
This DLC adds a fully fleshed-out championship based on modern racing seasons, including new teams, drivers, and liveries.
Late 2020s Season Pack Includes
- 7 new teams
- 14 new drivers with unique helmets
- 16 new car liveries
- 1 Story Mode championship
- Updated modern-era rules
- 1 new track: Azerbaijan
The Azerbaijan circuit introduces a demanding course filled with technical corners, long straights, and high-speed sections, forcing racers to carefully manage energy usage throughout each lap.

The boxed release launches June 4, 2026, and will be available for:
