Ninja fans and retro SEGA lovers are about to get one of the most exciting updates of the year. SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is officially receiving a major DLC expansion next month, and it’s bringing some of SEGA’s most iconic villains into the fight.
SEGA confirmed on March 21, 2026 that the SEGA Villains Stage DLC will launch on April 3, 2026 for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Joe Musashi Faces Legendary SEGA Villains
The upcoming DLC puts legendary ninja Joe Musashi against three of SEGA’s most recognizable villains across gaming history.
Players will battle:
- Death Adder from Golden Axe
- Goro Majima from Like a Dragon
- Dr. Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog
This crossover-style DLC celebrates SEGA’s long gaming legacy by bringing iconic characters from multiple franchises into one action-packed experience.
Five New Stages Inspired by Classic SEGA Worlds
The SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance SEGA Villains Stage DLC introduces five brand-new stages, each inspired by classic SEGA worlds and packed with new enemies, boss battles, and visual themes based on fan-favorite franchises.
Players can also expect a variety of new content, including:
- Two new Boss Rush modes
- Three new Ninpo abilities
- Three new Joe Musashi outfits
- Six brand-new music tracks
This makes the DLC one of the biggest content expansions the game has received since launch.
Hardcore Mode Coming in the Free Update Patch
Alongside the paid DLC, SEGA is also releasing a free update patch on April 3, 2026.
The update will introduce:
Hardcore Mode
A more challenging gameplay experience designed for veteran players who want tougher combat and more intense stage difficulty.
Gameplay and UI Improvements
The patch will also include combat system adjustments, improved character outlines, and updates to map and tutorial display features to improve overall gameplay clarity.

The SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance SEGA Villains Stage DLC launches on:

Players who own the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive the DLC automatically, while Standard Edition players will be able to purchase it separately or upgrade through the Digital Upgrade Pack.
