Riot Games Philippines has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for Wild Rift in 2026, introducing a more competitive Wild Rounds tournament structure, expanded opportunities for aspiring esports players, and new creator-focused initiatives designed to strengthen the game’s growing community.
The announcement marks the beginning of the Road to SMASH 2026, the premier global Wild Rift community event that brings together top players, creators, and fans from around the world.
Alongside the tournament roadmap, Riot Games also introduced the Wild Rift Partner Program and the highly anticipated Nexus Elite Program, a new creator initiative headlined by some of the Philippines’ biggest gaming personalities, including OHMYV33NUS, WISE, Yamada, and several other prominent content creators.
Wild Rift SMASH 2026 Aims to Be the Biggest Community Celebration Yet
Now entering its third edition, Wild Rift SMASH 2026 is evolving beyond a traditional esports tournament.
Riot Games describes this year’s event as a community-first global celebration that combines competitive play, creator-driven content, and fan engagement into a single international showcase.
To support that vision, SMASH 2026 will feature two major competition tracks:
Community Champions Cup
The Community Champions Cup will serve as the primary competitive tournament, bringing together top teams from participating regions as they compete for international bragging rights and Wild Rift supremacy.
Creator Showmatches
The Creator Showmatches will spotlight content creators and community personalities who qualify through dedicated creator-focused competitions. These exhibition-style battles are designed to showcase creativity, entertainment, and community engagement alongside traditional competition.
The dual-track format reflects Riot’s broader strategy of celebrating both competitive excellence and content creation within the Wild Rift ecosystem.
Road to SMASH 2026 Begins With Global Qualifiers
To determine who will represent each region at SMASH 2026, Riot Games is organizing qualification tournaments across several key markets.
Participating regions include:
- Philippines
- South Korea
- Vietnam
- Türkiye
- Brazil
- China
Each territory will host dedicated competitions for both community teams and creators, creating multiple pathways to the global event.
Wild Rounds: Pilipinas Open Returns With ₱1 Million Prize Pool
In the Philippines, the official qualification route is the Wild Rounds: Pilipinas Open.
The tournament began on June 4 and serves as the country’s primary competitive pathway to SMASH 2026.
Split 1 is currently underway and will run through July, while registration for Split 2 is scheduled to open on July 6.
The competition will culminate in a live championship event from September 25 to 27, where the top eight teams from both splits will battle for a share of the ₱1 million prize pool and the chance to represent the Philippines internationally.
The expanded format gives more teams an opportunity to compete while raising the overall level of competition throughout the season.
Creator Track Opens New Opportunities for Filipino Content Creators
One of the most notable additions to this year’s Wild Rounds ecosystem is the dedicated Creator Track.
Running from August through September, the creator competition will challenge participants across several Wild Rift game modes, including fan-favorite formats such as ARAM and 2v2 battles.
Rather than focusing exclusively on professional competition, the Creator Track is designed to highlight entertainment, creativity, and community engagement.
The winning creators will earn the opportunity to represent the Philippines in the Creator Showmatches at SMASH 2026 in South Korea.
Philippine Champions Set for South Korea Showdown
Both the Community Champions Cup winners and Creator Track champions from the Philippines will advance to the global SMASH 2026 finals in South Korea this November.
The event will gather representatives from participating countries and serve as the culmination of Wild Rift’s worldwide community competition program.
For Filipino players and creators, it represents one of the biggest international opportunities in the Wild Rift ecosystem.
New Wild Rift Updates Set the Stage for SMASH 2026
Riot Games also revealed additional details regarding upcoming Wild Rift content updates that will accompany the Road to SMASH.
The company confirmed that Patch 6C and Patch 6D will play a major role in the lead-up to the international competition.
Patch 6C: Dragon Calling
Scheduled for release in July, Patch 6C will serve as the primary update during much of the qualification period while also celebrating Wild Rift’s anniversary.
The update follows the themes introduced in previous 2026 patches, including the Ionian festivities of Patch 6A and the competitive innovations introduced in Patch 6B.
Patch 6D: Rhythms of Memory
Launching toward the end of September, Patch 6D will arrive just before the SMASH 2026 finals and focus on nostalgic celebrations designed to connect players with Wild Rift’s evolving legacy.
Together, the updates are expected to maintain momentum throughout the tournament season while providing fresh content for players worldwide.
Riot Launches New Wild Rift Creator Programs
Beyond competitive events, Riot Games is investing heavily in creator development through two new initiatives designed to support content creators at different stages of their journey.
Wild Rift Partner Program
The Wild Rift Partner Program provides creators with:
- Early access to game information
- Private Discord channels
- Invitations to exclusive events
- Educational workshops and networking opportunities
The initiative aims to strengthen relationships between Riot Games and the broader creator community while helping participants stay connected to future developments within the game.
Nexus Elite Program
The newly launched Nexus Elite Program serves as Wild Rift’s premier creator initiative in the Philippines.
The program brings together a diverse group of creators from across the gaming landscape, including professional players, esports personalities, casters, cosplayers, community leaders, and content creators.
Among the inaugural members are:
