Sonic the Hedgehog

AirAsia and SEGA are taking fans on a high-speed adventure — both in the skies and on the racetrack. The world’s one and only “Sonic the Hedgehog” aircraft has just received a complete cabin makeover, now showcasing vibrant designs inspired by Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Sonic Rumble.

This exciting collaboration marks a new chapter in the partnership between AirAsia and SEGA, uniting aviation and gaming in a celebration of Sonic’s enduring legacy.

A Fresh New Look for the Legendary Sonic Jet

The redesigned AirAsia X Airbus A330 (tail number: 9M-XXU) now immerses passengers in the colorful, fast-paced world of Sonic. Every inch of the aircraft’s interior reflects the blue blur’s iconic energy — with Sonic and his friends decorating the cabin for a fun, photo-worthy in-flight experience.

Fans can even catch a glimpse of the new cabin design through the official announcement trailer on AirAsia’s YouTube channel. The exterior remains instantly recognizable, but it’s the interior transformation that truly brings Sonic’s world to life, turning a simple flight into a fan experience unlike any other.

Sonic Takes Flight — and the Racetrack

To commemorate this collaboration, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is also introducing exclusive AirAsia-themed decals for players to customize their Machines. The racing title, which has been praised for its “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews on Steam and a Metacritic score above 9.0, continues to deliver a thrilling and unpredictable racing experience.

Players can test their skills in the free demo, available now on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The demo allows racers to customize Machines, equip Gadgets, and carry their progress into the full version once purchased.

About Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Developed by SEGA’s elite racing team, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds redefines the kart racing genre. Racers can speed across dynamic tracks that change with every lap — on land, sea, and air. With 23 core Sonic characters and guest DLC racers such as Hatsune Miku, Joker (Persona 5 Royal), Ichiban Kasuga (Like a Dragon), SpongeBob SquarePants, PAC-MAN, and Mega Man, the roster is the biggest in the franchise’s history.

Customization plays a huge role in gameplay, with over 70 Gadgets offering endless combinations to personalize vehicles and strategies. Players can also enjoy crossplay support, making it easy to race with friends across different platforms in online modes like World Match, Festival events, and Time Trial.

Fly High, Race Fast

This partnership between AirAsia and SEGA is more than a marketing stunt — it’s a fusion of fan culture, innovation, and nostalgia. Whether you’re soaring 30,000 feet in the air or speeding through CrossWorlds, Sonic’s world is ready to welcome you aboard.
