As Long As You’re Here Game Explores Alzheimer’s Through a Heartfelt First-Person Story

As Long As You’re Here

A deeply emotional journey awaits players this October as As Long As You’re Here—the debut title from indie studio Autoscopia Interactive—arrives on PC via Steam on October 28, 2025. The game offers a rare and intimate portrayal of life through the eyes of Annie, a woman living with Alzheimer’s disease, where memories blur and the boundaries between past and present begin to dissolve.

Originally developed as a student project inspired by real-life experiences, the game struck a chord with audiences worldwide, amassing over 13,800 downloads and more than 7 million views on YouTube. The outpouring of support prompted the Copenhagen-based team to expand the concept into a full-length release, earning the game a Game of the Year nomination at SXSW Sydney 2025 and viral acclaim across TikTok and Instagram.

A Story Told from the Heart

As Long As You’re Here tells the story of Annie and her family as they navigate the emotional weight of reversed caregiving roles following her move from her long-time home. As she unpacks her belongings, fragments of her past—memories of her late brother and her childhood home—resurface, intertwining with her present reality.

Players experience Annie’s isolation, doubt, and vulnerability through a first-person lens that places them directly in her shifting world. It’s a rare exploration of dementia and memory loss that treats the subject with compassion and authenticity, offering players a glimpse into the emotional landscape of those living with Alzheimer’s disease.

From Personal Loss to Creative Expression

The game’s creator, Marlène Delrive, began the project after losing her grandmother to Alzheimer’s. What started as a way to process grief became a powerful creative endeavor that resonated deeply with others. Initially completed during an eight-week student program, the prototype’s reception—culminating in a Best Student Game nomination at the 2020 Independent Games Festival—paved the way for the studio’s formation and the game’s eventual expansion into a fully realized narrative experience.
