Best Served Cold: Demo Now Available with Debut Gameplay Trailer

Rogueside is excited to announce that the demo for their narrative-driven murder mystery game, Best Served Cold, is now available on Steam. Players can now take an early trip to the fictional city of Bukovie and experience the atmosphere and intrigue that will be coming to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch with the game’s full release. To celebrate the demo’s release, Rogueside has also unveiled a brand-new gameplay trailer showcasing the game’s evocative art, investigation mechanics, and drink-mixing features.

In Best Served Cold, you step into the shoes of a bartender at a speakeasy where potential suspects and witnesses gather. The local community is shaken by a series of murders, and the police are stumped. An ambitious young detective enlists your help to crack the case. To keep your illegal establishment running, you’ll need to impress him by serving cocktails to loosen your patrons’ tongues, gathering clues, and solving the murders.

The game features a fascinating cast of characters who seek solace or stir up trouble at ‘The Nightcap,’ a bar known for its varied clientele. As you lend an ear to your patrons and form bonds, you’ll uncover their backstories and coax out confessions using charm, persuasion, and the right mix of alcohol. Even the tightest of lips can be loosened with the right approach.

“We’re thrilled to reveal Best Served Cold for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch with our new trailer,” said Antje Van den Heuvel, Art Director at Rogueside. “Once players get a taste of the atmospheric world we’ve crafted, meet some of our fascinating characters, and start pulling at the threads of our murder mystery, we think they’ll be back at the bar asking for another serving! The demo will be available throughout the whole of Steam Next Fest, so we hope you check it out!”

Key features of Best Served Cold include collecting clues to solve murders while working at ‘The Nightcap,’ mixing cocktails to manipulate your patrons’ moods, meeting fascinating characters, building relationships, and learning their backstories. You’ll also return to your apartment each day to connect clues on your evidence board and make new deductions. The game is set in a richly crafted world inspired by the cultural revival of 1920s Bucharest, where cultural, political, and economic shifts are fragmenting the old order. The story is crafted by writers Joshua Aldred and Thomas Welsh, known for their work on Cloudpunk.
