Fans of classic adventure games, rejoice: Lucy Dreaming, the award-winning, retro-style point-and-click comedy by UK-based indie studio Tall Story Games, officially lands on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on July 31.
Already beloved by PC and Switch audiences, Lucy Dreaming is a love letter to the golden age of pixel-art adventures, drawing inspiration from the likes of Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, and British comedy greats like Blackadder and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
With its PlayStation debut, Lucy’s hilariously haunting journey becomes available to a whole new audience — complete with expanded French, Spanish, and Italian localisations across all platforms.
💤 Explore the Subconscious — and Northern England
Players take on the role of Lucy, a smart and snarky young girl plagued by a recurring nightmare she can’t seem to escape. To uncover the truth, players will travel between Lucy’s waking world — the fictional, delightfully British town of Figgington — and the bizarre, puzzle-packed realms of her subconscious.
You’ll ride your bike around town, interrogate quirky townsfolk, and master the art of lucid dreaming in order to unravel a dark, long-buried family mystery.
Lucy’s world is crafted in richly detailed 90s-style pixel art, blending nostalgia with modern polish. The game’s charm is further amplified by a full cast of voice actors — including none other than Dominic Armato, the voice of Monkey Island’s Guybrush Threepwood himself.
🎮 Localised Laughs for a Global Audience
Coinciding with the PlayStation release, Lucy Dreaming also rolls out culturally adapted translations in French, Spanish, and Italian, joining the existing English and German versions. These new localisations aren’t just direct translations — they’ve been carefully rewritten to preserve the game’s pun-heavy humour, regional wordplay, and tone, ensuring every joke lands naturally.
Developer Tom Hardwidge, one half of Tall Story Games, shared:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to bring Lucy Dreaming to new audiences. We’ve poured so much heart into this game, and we’re excited for more people to experience its humour, puzzles, and charm for the first time.”
🛠️ What’s Next for Tall Story Games?
Based in Shropshire, England, Tall Story Games was founded during the pandemic by husband-and-wife duo Tom and Emma Hardwidge. After winning over the indie scene with Lucy Dreaming, the studio is working on two new titles set to release in 2026:
- Heir of the Dog: A Victorian steampunk horror-comedy where a man turns into a beast after sipping his uncle’s mysterious formula. Expect time-bending puzzles, secret societies, and a twisted take on London.
- Adventures of a Cat in Space: A musical puzzle game created with Little Seeds Music, designed for children and families. This cozy collaboration aims to blend storytelling, adventure gameplay, and musical theatre.
