Indie studio BornMonkie has officially announced its next big project: Dodo Duckie, a cosy yet mind-bending puzzle platformer that lets players flip between 2D and 3D perspectives to solve challenges, rescue friends, and outsmart aliens. The game is set to launch on Steam in Q1 2026, with a demo planned ahead of release.
A Quirky Hero With Main-Character Energy
Players step into the webbed feet of Dodo the Duck, a farm-dweller whose peaceful life is shattered when aliens abduct all of his chicken friends. With no one else to rely on, it’s up to Dodo to venture beyond the farm, navigate strange new worlds, and save the flock.
The journey blends the familiarity of classic 2D platforming—collecting coins, hopping across obstacles, and meeting quirky characters—with innovative perspective-swapping mechanics that transform the level into a whole new playground when viewed in 3D. Hidden treasures, secret paths, and clever puzzles await those willing to think outside the (duck) box.
Inspired by Puzzle Platformer Legends
Dodo Duckie draws inspiration from fan favorites like Fez, Paper Mario, and Gris, but adds its own playful charm. “Imagine Fez met Super Paper Mario—that’s Dodo Duckie,” said BornMonkie co-founder and producer Samveda. “It’s cozy, delightfully goofy, and stars a duck with undeniable main-character energy.”
