Funcom has officially announced the release date for their highly anticipated open-world, multiplayer survival game, Dune: Awakening. Set on the iconic desert planet of Arrakis, the game will be available on Steam starting May 20. But the adventure begins today with the launch of the Character Creation & Benchmark Mode, now live on Steam.
Inspired by Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi novel and the award-winning films by Legendary Entertainment, Dune: Awakening promises an immersive experience crafted by Funcom’s veteran developers. Players can dive into the game’s universe by creating their characters now, which can be imported into the game at launch.
The base game is priced at $49.99/€49.99, with pre-orders opening soon. Early birds who pre-order will receive the Terrarium of Muad’Dib, an in-base decoration featuring the iconic desert mouse. This little creature is wise in the ways of the desert, so keep an eye on him!
By downloading the Character Creator & Benchmark Mode today, players will also receive a code for the exclusive Frameblade knife skin, redeemable at launch. This mode allows players to fine-tune their characters, choosing their home planet, caste, and mentor, which will determine their starting abilities. Players can eventually access every School and mix and match abilities.
The benchmark mode also lets players test their hardware performance and system compatibility while enjoying epic scenes from the game, including soaring with an ornithopter and encountering a colossal sandworm.
Dune: Awakening is set to be the most ambitious survival game ever made, immersing players in the dangerous world of Arrakis. Whether you’re a Dune fan or new to the universe, this game promises an epic journey from scavenging and survival to controlling the planet itself.
Mark your calendars for May 20 and get ready to hit the sand running. Download the Character Creator & Benchmark Mode now to start your journey on Arrakis today!
