A brand-new cyberpunk time-travel adventure is on the horizon. During the PC Gamer PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted showcase, Singaporean solo developer abnermtj and Japan-based publisher Kakehashi Games officially unveiled Epoch Reset, a 2.5D anime-inspired narrative experience slated for release in 2027. The reveal marks one of the showcase’s standout world premieres and brings fresh energy to the sci-fi adventure genre.
A Time-Travel Story with High Stakes and Anime Flair
Epoch Reset introduces players to Hector Rodriguez, a well-meaning but scatterbrained scientist juggling side jobs while secretly building the world’s first functioning time machine. His invention should have been a scientific breakthrough—but instead it becomes the device that may doom humanity. At least, that’s the warning delivered by assassins who claim to be hunting him from the future.
Players will jump between timelines and perspectives as the story unfolds, exploring neon-lit cityscapes across Hong Kong, Tokyo, and other futuristic locales. The narrative promises twisting conspiracies, time-bending revelations, and a cast of characters woven into a mystery far larger than Hector could have anticipated.
With its vibrant anime-style visuals and branching storyline, Epoch Reset positions itself as an immersive adventure for fans of cinematic storytelling and cyberpunk worlds.
A Global Indie Collaboration Years in the Making
Epoch Reset marks the commercial debut of Singaporean solo developer Abner Tolentino, also known as abnermtj. Developing games since 2020, Tolentino aims to create titles that resonate deeply with players, and Epoch Reset represents the culmination of years of passion and experimentation. Fans can follow his development journey and previews on his social channels.
On the publishing side, Kakehashi Games brings more than a decade of experience uplifting indie creators across Asia. Founded in Tokyo in 2013, the boutique publisher has helped introduce acclaimed titles such as Hollow Knight, Sea of Stars, Dead Cells, and Eastward to Japanese audiences. Since expanding globally in 2023, Kakehashi Games has worked to bridge Eastern and Western gaming communities while spotlighting standout indie talent.
