Framework has just announced their latest innovation, the Framework Desktop, a compact 4.5L Mini-ITX desktop powered by AMD’s new Ryzen AI Max processors. Pre-orders are now open, with the first shipments expected in early Q3 2025. This desktop is designed to deliver exceptional performance with up to 16 CPU cores, Radeon 8060S graphics, and support for up to 128GB of unified LPDDR5x memory, making it ideal for high-end gaming, creative workloads, and AI applications.
The Framework Desktop stands out in the market by combining the modularity and upgradeability of traditional desktops with a compact and customizable design. It features a standard Mini-ITX form factor, a semi-custom 400W power supply, and a thermal system co-developed with Cooler Master and Noctua. Users can choose between black and translucent side panels, RGB fans, and even 3D print their own front panel tiles for a personalized touch.
One notable aspect of the Framework Desktop is its use of soldered LPDDR5x memory to achieve the high memory bandwidth required by the Ryzen AI Max processors. Despite this, Framework has ensured that memory pricing remains reasonable. The top-end configuration with 128GB of memory starts at $1999 USD, while the base model with 32GB of memory is priced at $1099 USD. All systems are DIY Editions, allowing users to bring their own storage and operating system.
In addition to the desktop, Framework has also introduced the new AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series-powered Framework Laptop 13, available for pre-order with shipments starting in April. These laptops feature new processors, Wi-Fi 7, a revamped thermal system, and new customization options. The top-end Ryzen 9 HX 370 option offers 12 CPU cores and 16 GPU cores, providing impressive performance for gaming and AI applications.
Framework has also previewed the Framework Laptop 12, a durable, repairable, and upgradeable 12.2” touchscreen convertible notebook. Designed with students and young people in mind, this laptop features a full 13th Gen Intel Core processor, support for up to 48GB of DDR5-5200 memory, and a 1920×1200 display with touch and stylus support. Pre-orders for the Framework Laptop 12 will open in April, with shipments expected in mid-2025.
Framework continues to push the boundaries of modular and upgradeable computing, offering powerful and customizable solutions for both desktop and laptop users. With their latest announcements, they are set to make a significant impact in the PC gaming and AI markets.
