BAFTA has announced that globally acclaimed artists Freya Ridings and Peredur ap Gwynedd, of Pendulum, will take to the stage at this year’s 21st BAFTA Games Awards, the world’s most prestigious celebration of excellence and creative achievement in video games.
Emma Baehr, Executive Director of Awards and Content at BAFTA, said, “We’re delighted to have Freya Ridings and Peredur ap Gwynedd join us at this year’s BAFTA Games Awards. These two performances will be a true fusion of artistry, showing how different creative mediums – music, games, and storytelling – can come together to create something remarkable. We can’t wait to share these powerful moments with audiences both in the room and watching live at home.”
Freya Ridings, the internationally gold-certified singer, songwriter, and pianist whose music has garnered over 1 billion streams, will grace the stage to perform the poignant “I Can’t Hear It Now” from season two of the hit Netflix series, Arcane. Written and performed by Freya, the song has amassed over 40 million streams since its debut, with the second season soundtrack album of the League of Legends-inspired show garnering 2.8 billion streams. Known for her powerful storytelling and emotionally rich vocals, her performance is set to be a standout moment at this year’s Awards.
“I’m thrilled to be performing ‘I Can’t Hear It Now’ at the BAFTA Game Awards 2025. This song holds such a special place in my heart and being able to share it on this incredible stage, surrounded by the energy and passion of the BAFTA community, feels like a dream. Collaborating with Alex Seaver and the amazing Riot Games to create this opening track for Arcane’s Season 2 was a truly unforgettable experience. To see the outpouring of love across Netflix and social media has been phenomenal, and I can’t wait to perform it on such a special stage!” said Ridings.
Welsh guitarist and media composer Peredur ap Gwynedd, renowned for his work with the Drum & Bass/Rock phenomenon Pendulum, will lead celebrations with a high-energy medley of the band’s iconic tracks – “Witchcraft,” “Showdown,” “Granite,” “Propane Nightmares,” “Blood Sugar,” and “Watercolour.” Peredur has played an instrumental role in shaping Pendulum’s distinct sound, which has been featured in major video games such as Need for Speed and FIFA Street 2. His electrifying guitar riffs are signature to their live shows, so it promises to be an unforgettable performance.
Peredur’s own track “Longing” will also be featured during the evening’s In Memoriam, a moment to remember and pay tribute to those from the games industry who have sadly passed away in the last year.
“I’m honoured to be asked to participate in this year’s BAFTA Games Awards, and hopefully everyone will enjoy my contribution.” said Peredur ap Gwynedd.
The 21st BAFTA Games Awards takes place on Tuesday, April 8 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and will be streamed live on BAFTA’s YouTube and Twitch channels. The ceremony will be hosted for the second time by comedian and video games enthusiast Phil Wang, who will entertain an audience filled with a complete roster of industry greats.
The BAFTA Games Awards is supported by BAFTA’s official partners EE, Epic Games, PlayStation, and The Langham, and is part of the London Games Festival, running from April 2 to April 13 across the UK capital.
