Hack to the Future: DeadWire Demo Lights Up Steam Next Fest

Excitement is building as Sweden-based indie developer Shotgun Anaconda announces the release of their new top-down shooter, DeadWire. This lightning-paced, neon-drenched cyberpunk game will be available as a demo during Steam Next Fest from February 24 to March 3, 2025. The demo will self-destruct on March 31, so don’t miss your chance to dive into the action. A brand-new trailer has also been released, showcasing the intense gameplay.

DeadWire offers a fresh take on the top-down shooter genre, reminiscent of the pixelated mayhem of classics like Hotline Miami. Set in a neon-soaked cyberpunk metropolis, players take on the role of Wire, a skilled hacker with a debt to settle. Your mission is to dismantle powerful criminal organizations threatening the orphanage that raised you. Armed with weapons and unique hacking skills, you’ll turn the tide in this fast-paced shooter.

The game features a dynamic hacking system, allowing players to use Rewire Mode to hack and link enemies, vehicles, and environmental objects, creating devastating chain reactions. Imagine linking a guard to a nearby car, shooting the guard, and watching the car plow through enemies. The epic synthwave soundtrack adds to the immersive experience as you outsmart and outmaneuver overwhelming odds.

DeadWire’s gameplay includes top-down destruction, mixing hacking, power-ups, and gunplay. Engage in high-octane combat, dodging bullets, shooting enemies, and keeping on the move. Tactical gameplay offers multiple ways to complete each level, whether you take it slow or blaze through with speed and precision. Challenging missions with side objectives and time trials add to the replayability.

The DeadWire demo is available now on Steam, with a full release expected later in 2025. Act fast, as the demo will disappear on March 31. Check out the demo and experience the mayhem for yourself.
