Indie studio RuniQ has exciting news for gamers: their co-op side-scrolling brawler, Heroes of Mount Dragon, is launching this June on PC and in September on Nintendo Switch. To give players a taste of the action, a demo is now available on Steam as part of this week’s Steam Couch Co-Op Festival.
Heroes of Mount Dragon combines the nostalgia of fantasy and colorful Saturday morning cartoons with hand-drawn 2D realms seamlessly integrated into a vibrant 3D environment. Players can dive into thrilling side-scrolling action, choosing from a variety of dragon-morphing heroes to battle alongside or against friends, both locally and online. These heroes come with unique abilities, strategic power-ups, and mischievous curses to sabotage opponents.
Key features of Heroes of Mount Dragon include:
- Frantic Beat ‘Em Up Action: Choose from eight unique dragon-morphing heroes, each with their own skill sets and combos. Note that only four heroes will be available at launch in June, with the remaining four characters arriving in future updates.
- Dragon Transformations: Players can transform into powerful dragons to unleash devastating attacks.
- Upgradable Abilities: Unlock powerful upgrades to level up as you progress through the adventure.
- Collaborative and Competitive Modes: Play co-op on the couch or online with friends on all platforms. Enjoy adventure and arcade modes with up to three friends, or challenge them in competitive mode to become the best hero of Mount Dragon.
- Strategic Power-Ups and Curses: Acquire power-ups to face the onslaught of monsters and use a variety of devious curses to mess with rivals—electrify them, shrink them, or flip their controls.
- Colorful Artistic Style: Experience vibrant 2D realms with unique hand-drawn textures seamlessly integrated into a 3D environment, evoking the feel of a modern-day Saturday morning cartoon.
- Light-Hearted Tone: Enjoy a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, offering a fun and engaging experience.
Heroes of Mount Dragon will be available on PC this June, with the full roster of characters following in future updates. Players can wishlist the game on Steam and follow it on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Discord for further announcements and the official release date.
