Invincible

The superhero universe of Invincible is leaping from the comic book pages to your tabletop. Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying, developed by Free League Publishing and Skybound Entertainment, has been live on Kickstarter for just a week and has already raised more than $300,000 USD, surpassing multiple stretch goals and unlocking exclusive rewards.

Kickstarter Success and Exclusive Rewards

The campaign is off to a super-powered start. Backers have already unlocked bonus adventures and a limited-run reprint of Invincible #1, featuring a brand-new variant cover drawn by Todd Nauck and colored by Matt Herms. This collectible is exclusive to Kickstarter and won’t be printed again, making it a must-have for fans.

Available pledge options include the Core Rulebook (standard and Collector’s Edition) and a Starter Set, all featuring artwork by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley with graphic design by Johan Nohr (MÖRK BORG).

Try Before You Back: Free Quickstart and Virtual Tabletop Module

For players eager to dive in early, a free Quickstart PDF is now available via DriveThruRPG. Even better, as of today, the Quickstart is fully supported on the Foundry Virtual Tabletop, letting players try the system online with friends. A base Foundry subscription is required, but once installed, fans can immediately start exploring the superhero sandbox without leaving home.

What Makes Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying Unique

Based on Robert Kirkman’s beloved comic series, this tabletop RPG captures the heart of superhero storytelling while leaving room for unexpected twists. Players can step into the shoes of iconic characters or craft their own heroes, juggling responsibilities, relationships, and world-shaking battles.

From alien invasions to city-wide clashes, witty banter to moral dilemmas, Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying blends familiar superhero tropes with surprising subversions. Whether you’re a speedster, inventor, vigilante, or symbol of hope, the game challenges you to balance action, drama, and self-discovery.

Core Rulebook Highlights

The Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying Core Rulebook comes packed with everything players and GMs need to build their stories:

  • Hero Creation: Step-by-step guide to building your own superhero.
  • Powers & Talents: Rules for powers, talents, and drawbacks.
  • Action & Combat: Systems for damage, recovery, and dramatic showdowns.
  • The Invincible Universe: A guide to the setting, including locations and organizations.
  • Running the Game: Tools and advice for Game Masters.
  • Campaign Play: Support for long-term stories, encounters, and NPCs.

The game is co-designed by Adam Bradford (founder of D&D Beyond) and Tomas Härenstam (Free League co-founder and lead designer of ALIEN RPG, Blade Runner RPG, Mutant: Year Zero, and Dragonbane).

The Road Ahead

With weeks still left in its campaign, Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying is shaping up to be one of 2025’s biggest tabletop RPG launches. Fans of the comic, newcomers to the universe, and RPG enthusiasts alike have plenty to be excited about — whether through the free Quickstart, Foundry module, or the growing list of backer rewards.
