The battlefield is shifting once again. Tripwire Interactive has officially launched Season Two for Killing Floor 3, delivering one of the game’s biggest updates yet. Titled “Operation: Breakout,” this new season sends Nightfall Operatives into the dense jungles of Costa Rica as an escaped threat emerges from the shadows. With a brand-new map, a returning fan-favorite Specialist, a new stealth-based Zed, and an arsenal expansion, Killing Floor 3 players have more reasons than ever to jump back into the fight.
Available now across PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the Operation: Breakout update is jam-packed with fresh missions, cosmetics, challenges, and critical quality-of-life improvements.
To mark the launch, Tripwire has rolled out a 33% Steam discount on all editions of Killing Floor 3, with console promotions coming soon.
A Jungle Prison Full of Horrors: New Map “Prison”
Season Two introduces the game’s first new survival map, Prison—a hidden cryo-facility buried deep in the Costa Rican jungle. Once a dark experiment site, the compound now teems with awakened nightmares.
Operatives will push from thick forest perimeters into the prison’s claustrophobic underground depths as they confront Zeds released after a catastrophic power failure. Interactive elements scattered throughout the facility enhance replayability and keep every run unpredictable.
New Specialist Joins the Fight: DJ Scully Returns
The legendary DJ Scully is back—and he’s bringing charm, wit, and questionable military training with him. A fan-favorite from previous entries, Scully is now fully playable in Killing Floor 3 and can be used with any Perk, making him a versatile and stylish addition to the roster.
Meet the Stalker: A New Stealth Zed Hunts the Unprepared
Season Two introduces a new enemy: the Stalker, also known as Specimen WYR-05. This upgraded Zed specializes in stealth, targeting lone Operatives who stray too far from their squad.
Players can detect a cloaked Stalker by using tools like:
- Pulse Lure
- Sonar Sight Mod
- UV Light Underbarrel Mod
- Commando Perk Passive Ability
Teamwork is now more critical than ever—and separating from your squad may prove fatal.
New Weapon: KV Recluse SMG
A standout addition arrives with the KV Recluse SMG, a high-powered submachine gun native to the Medic class but usable by all Specialists. It supports an expanding lineup of weapon mods and multiple ammunition types, including:
- Armor Piercing
- Incendiary
- Acidic
- Overpressure
- Rapid Release Darts
- Explosive Healing Darts
New underbarrels and sights—like the UV Light and Sonar Sight—open up new tactical options, especially when paired with the Stalker’s stealth mechanics.
Ten New Missions Expand the Narrative
“Operation: Breakout” advances the story with ten new missions spanning the Prison and returning maps. As Dr. Emmanuel Moorcroft’s plans escalate, Cordelia expands the Nightfall ranks in a desperate attempt to counter Horzine’s rising power.
Completing these missions grants exclusive rewards such as:
- Player Cards
- Character Skins
- Weapon Stickers
- XP Bonuses
Players can activate Operation: Breakout from the Assignments: Mission tab and progress through missions in any order.
Season Two Supply Pass: 100 Levels of Rewards
The new Season Two Supply Pass features 100 tiers of unlockable cosmetics across both free and premium tracks. Supply Points earned during gameplay unlock these customization options, and passes remain available for purchase at any time.
More Updates, More Mutators, More Mayhem
Season Two also includes:
- New Daily Challenges
- Weekly and Wave Mutators
- New Zed execution animations
- A brand-new Achievement
- Significant quality-of-life improvements
- Bug fixes and optimization upgrades
