League of Legends Dev Update March 2026: Ranked Overhaul, Shyvana Rework in Patch 26.6, and ARAM: Mayhem Extended

League of Legends

The latest League of Legends Dev Update has arrived, and it’s packed with meaningful changes for Ranked, a long-awaited Shyvana rework, and big news for ARAM fans. Riot developers Paul “Pabro” Bellezza, Andrei “Meddler” Van Roon, and Ed “Riot Memurr” Zhao shared insights into Season 1’s progress and what players can expect in the coming patches of League of Legends.

From faster queue times to major Ranked ladder adjustments and the full reveal of Shyvana’s Patch 26.6 overhaul, here’s everything you need to know.

Season 1 Update: Faster Queues, Fewer Dodges, Healthier Gameplay

Riot reports that Season 1 changes are landing well after early tuning adjustments. The team is continuing to monitor:

  • Faelights performance
  • ADC and top lane power levels
  • Overall item balance

One of the biggest improvements? Time to get into game is down by roughly 30% on average. Even more impressively, lobby dodge rates have dropped dramatically from 19% to just 4%.

The return of classic items like Hextech Gunblade and Stormrazor has also sparked discussion, and Riot confirmed they are open to community feedback on which legacy items players want to see return next.

Ranked Changes in League of Legends: MMR and Tier Adjustments Explained

The League of Legends Ranked update focuses heavily on improving matchmaking clarity and skill distribution across tiers.

Iron Is No Longer a Long-Term Home

Riot wants Iron to serve as a starting point for new players — not a permanent residence for veterans. Adjustments were made to move experienced players into Bronze where appropriate.

Diamond and Master Rebalanced

Data revealed that the skill gap between Diamond IV and Diamond I was roughly equivalent to Bronze IV versus high Silver. To address this:

  • High Diamond players have been shifted upward into Master.
  • The Master MMR range has widened.
  • LP requirements for apex tiers have increased.

These changes aim to better represent true skill differences at the top end of the Ranked ladder.

More Ranked Changes Coming?

Riot is exploring potential future updates, including:

  • Adding new divisions or tiers at the highest ranks
  • Expanding lower-tier structure

The Ranked system remains a major focus as Riot continues refining competitive integrity in League of Legends.

Shyvana Rework Arrives in Patch 26.6

The highlight of the Dev Update is the long-awaited Shyvana gameplay and visual update, launching in Patch 26.6.

Shyvana, the Half-Dragon warrior of Demacia, returns to Summoner’s Rift fully reforged after overwhelming community support in champion update polls.

Riot worked closely with Shyvana mains to preserve what players love while modernizing her kit, visuals, and lore.

All of her existing skins will remain available, and a limited-time exclusive Leg Day Bundle will accompany her release.

Shyvana’s Updated Abilities (Patch 26.6)

Shyvana’s identity as a scaling dragon juggernaut remains intact — but her tools are sharper and more dynamic.

Passive – Scalemail

Takedowns on champions and large units grant Scalemail stacks, increasing her defenses and reinforcing her scaling durability.

Q – Emberstrike

Her next attack cleaves the target and nearby enemies. The ability can be recast, and in Dragon Form gains an additional recast that deals massive single-target damage.

W – Inferno Aegis

Shyvana gains a shield and bonus movement speed. After a delay, the area around her detonates. In Dragon Form, the explosion heals her when striking champions or monsters.

E – Molten Burst

Launches a fireball that explodes and slows enemies. In Dragon Form, it pierces through targets, leaving a trail of fire behind.

R – Dragon’s Descent

Shyvana transforms into her dragon form, leaping forward and fearing enemies along her path. In Dragon Form, she grows in size and empowers her basic abilities.

The rework modernizes her gameplay while doubling down on her bruiser-dragon fantasy within Runeterra.

ARAM: Mayhem Extended After Overwhelming Success

Following extremely positive player reception, ARAM: Mayhem isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Riot confirmed:

  • The mode’s run is being extended
  • No end date is currently planned
  • Additional content and balance updates are coming

ARAM players can expect continued support and iteration throughout the season.
