The Trading Card Game inspired by the League of Legends universe finally has an official name. Dropping the moniker of “Project K”, the game is set to be released under the title: “Riftbound: The League of Legends Trading Card Game.”
“Creating a new game gave us the opportunity to design multi-player gaming from the ground up. If you like teaming up with a friend to play 2V2s, we got you. Or if you just want to have some good old chaotic fun in a free for all, we definitely got you.” said Riftbound Executive Producer, Chengran Chai in the game’s most recent announcement video.
Since the initial announcement of the game last year, the game saw a redesign due to immense feedback about the card’s art which prompted developers to go back to the drawing board, literally, redesigning cards and a refining design decisions for the upcoming TCG.
Riftbound is set to release with it’s first set, Origins with over 300 different cards, and pre-constructed decks for Jinx, Victor and Lee Sin with a “Legend” rare cards illustrated by Riot Games’ artists. For first time TCG players but fans of League, Riftbound will also have a beginner set called Proving Grounds that is designed for first time TCG players as well as casual collectors who hope to get into the game.

Riftbound will see its first audience in China, releasing in Summer 2025, followed by many English-speaking regions by October 2025 with the rest seeing a 2026 releae.

It’s gonna be mega! Like every project of theirs. I just hope it’s gonna be a more innovative form of gameplay than hearthstone or mtg, I’d prefer something like legends of elysium, where they nicely combined a card game with a board game. Nevertheless, I’m waiting for the premiere and I’ll definitely play!
