Indie adventure fans, rejoice! Legends of Castile, the comic fantasy point-and-click inspired by Spanish folklore, has been officially selected to showcase at AdventureX 2025, the world’s premier narrative games convention. The team will present an exclusive demo in London on November 22–23, where visitors can also snag special goodies at the booth.
For the developers, this moment is surreal. “When we started making this game back in 2022, we didn’t even know what AdventureX was,” the team shared. “Now that we do, and knowing it is second to none among narrative conventions worldwide, we are thrilled to say our game has been officially selected.”
Release Date Update: Coming in 2026
While excitement is high, the team has also confirmed that Legends of Castile will not launch in 2025 as originally planned. A Christmas release is now off the table. Instead, the developers are taking additional time to polish the experience, aiming for a 2026 release window.
“The game still needs a bit more time in the oven to shine the way we all want it to,” the update notes. “We are doing our best to bring it to life in 2026, and we’ll share a clearer timeline when the moment feels right.”
Fans are assured that updates will continue regularly, as they have throughout the project’s development.
Meet the New Cast of Characters
To celebrate the AdventureX selection, the team also revealed several new characters players will encounter in their journey across 19th-century Castile:
- Fermín the Innkeeper – Owner of a marvelous (and possibly smelly) Castilian tavern.
- Fina the Baker – A cheerful soul who makes delicious Spanish rosquillas.
- Aquilino – A mysterious man that protagonist María will meet in Act 3, quiet until dawn reveals his secrets.
- The Company of Souls (La Hueste de Ánimas) – A spectral procession inspired by haunting Castilian and Galician legends. Will María have the wits to survive their path?
A Comic Fantasy Rooted in Folklore
For those new to the project, Legends of Castile is a comic fantasy point-and-click adventure set in the 19th-century Castile region of Spain. Players follow María de Salazar, a clumsy but brave village girl who dreams of becoming a nun.
After a vision of the Virgin Mary, María is tasked with proving the existence of legendary creatures plaguing Castile. To fulfill her dream, she must investigate the myths, collect artifacts, and confront the region’s most haunting folklore.
The game blends witty writing, historical settings, and mythological tales with the charm of classic adventure gameplay.
