Lotus: Lost Memories Demo Now Live for Steam Next Fest – A Samurai’s Journey Through Combat and Legacy

Lotus: Lost Memories

A tale of legacy, grief, and swordplay awaits. Indie studio Fenyx Digital—founded by developers Sava Beric and Ahamed Inhaam—has released the demo for their debut game, Lotus: Lost Memories, live now as part of Steam Next Fest.

Blending turn-based combat with emotional storytelling and pixel-art style, Lotus: Lost Memories is a 2D side-scrolling visual novel-meets-action RPG that follows a young samurai’s journey through memory, myth, and self-discovery.

🌸 The Journey Begins: A Dying Father, A Sacred Herb, A Deadly Tournament

Set in a stylized version of feudal Japan, Lotus: Lost Memories tells the story of Atsushi, a young samurai seeking the mythical Raikestsu herb to save his ailing father. His journey leads him into the heart of a tournament orchestrated by Emperor Lord Hisashi, where only the most skilled—and the most desperate—samurai survive.

As Atsushi navigates this brutal trial, he must confront not just deadly foes, but also the emotional weight of grief, legacy, and memory. Told across three acts, the game evolves from a personal mission to a broader exploration of war, identity, and truth.

🗡️ Strategy Meets Precision in Combat

More than just a visual novel, Lotus: Lost Memories introduces a skill-based turn-based battle system that rewards timing and reflex over traditional stats. Each battle is built around deliberate, methodical choices that reflect the introspective pace of the story.

🔑 Combat Features:

  • Ten distinct attack types including swings, jabs, and pierces
  • Quick Time Events (QTEs) for real-time actions like parries, blocks, and kunai throws
  • Six hand-crafted Japanese-inspired battle arenas, from shadowy forests to coliseum battlegrounds
  • Gauntlet Mode with timed trials and global leaderboards for hardcore samurai

Enemies range from agile ninjas to brutal warlords, each with their own movesets and weaknesses to exploit through careful pattern recognition and quick reactions.

📖 A Visual Novel in Three Acts

The story unfolds over three narrative acts:

  • Act One: A samurai’s humble beginning and the world’s introduction
  • Act Two: Deeper world-building and memory-sharing with others
  • Act Three: A tournament of truth—where emotional and physical trials converge

Each act deepens your connection to Atsushi and those around him, revealing the inner lives of even your enemies. Lotus: Lost Memories aims to humanize conflict and immerse players in a narrative where everyone fights for something—or someone.
