Mario Kart World: The Biggest Mario Kart Game Ever Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Mario Kart World

Nintendo has unveiled exciting new details about the upcoming Mario Kart World, set to be the biggest game in the series’ history. Launching exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 system on June 5, this game promises to deliver an unparalleled racing experience.

An Interconnected World Awaits

Mario Kart World introduces a groundbreaking interconnected world where players can drive virtually anywhere, from bustling cities and serene plains to scorching deserts and even underwater realms. Races are held across various regions, featuring dynamic weather conditions and a day/night cycle. Whether competing in Grand Prix, Knockout Tour, or exploring in Free Roam, the world is your racetrack.

Grand Prix and Knockout Tour

Compete for gold in Grand Prix, which includes four races per Cup, such as the Mushroom Cup and Flower Cup. For the first time, racers will drive from one course to the next as part of the Grand Prix. Knockout Tour offers extended rallies with checkpoints, where failing to make the cut means you’re out of the race. Avoid hazards like Bullet Bills and Hammer Bros. attacks to stay in the running.

Free Roam and Battle Mode

Explore the vast world in Free Roam, discovering hidden coins, completing missions, and taking in panoramic vistas. Battle Mode returns with Coin Runners and Balloon Battle, where players collect coins or burst rivals’ balloons to secure victory.

New Techniques and Features

Leap over obstacles with the new Charge Jump move, grind rails, and chain wall-rides to uncover hidden routes. Use Rewind to reset your vehicle’s position during Free Roam or single-player mode. Mario Kart World supports up to 24 racers, the most in series history, with modes like Grand Prix and Knockout Tour allowing for large-scale competitions.

Multiplayer Fun

Race together locally or online, with up to four players in split-screen mode or eight players via local wireless play. Online play lets players from around the world join races or battles. Use GameChat to voice chat with friends while driving or watch each other’s game screens.

CameraPlay and Courses

With the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera (sold separately), players’ faces appear beside their racers, adding a personal touch to online play. Mario Kart World features new courses like Mario Bros. Circuit and Crown City, as well as reimagined classics from previous games.

Characters and Items

Race as familiar Mushroom Kingdom characters like Mario and Luigi, or try offbeat racers like Goomba and Spike. Use new items like the Coin Shell, Ice Flower, and Mega Mushroom to gain an edge on the track.

Drive-Thru and Roll-Out

Make a pit stop at Yoshi’s for Dash Food, which provides speed boosts and unlocks outfits. Explore even more modes like Time Trials and VS Race, customizing rules for friendly competition.

Roadside Assistance

Features like Smart Steering, Auto-Accelerate, and Tilt Controls are available to assist players. The Joy-Con 2 Wheel accessory (sold separately) enhances the driving experience.

Bundle and Availability

A bundle including the Nintendo Switch 2 system and a full game download code for Mario Kart World will be available starting June 5. For more information, visit Nintendo’s website.

Get ready to roll out with Mario and friends in the biggest Mario Kart game ever!
