The Pokémon Company International has officially launched the Pokémon Trading Card Game: Mega Evolution Expansion, bringing back one of the most powerful and fan-favorite mechanics in the series’ history — Mega Evolution Pokémon. Starting October 10, 2025, Trainers around the world can now collect, battle, and relive the glory of Mega Evolution across physical and digital platforms.
Mega Evolution Pokémon Are Back and Stronger Than Ever
Marking the first release in the new Mega Evolution Series, this expansion reintroduces the legendary Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, headlined by fan favorites like Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex.
These mighty Pokémon don’t just look incredible — they pack serious power. Mega Evolution Pokémon ex boast higher HP and stronger attacks than standard Pokémon ex, making them formidable forces in battle. However, there’s a twist: when they’re knocked out, your opponent claims three Prize cards instead of the usual one or two, adding a layer of high-risk, high-reward strategy to every match.
Another exciting change for collectors and players alike is that Mega Evolution Pokémon ex now appear as Basic, Stage 1, or Stage 2 Pokémon, removing the need for an additional evolution step — making them easier to play right out of your hand.
New Art, New Mechanics, and Ultra Rare Discoveries
The Mega Evolution expansion also debuts a brand-new art style for ultra rare cards. Some feature unique silhouettes of their standard Pokémon forms, creating stunning visual callbacks to their base evolutions.

The excitement doesn’t stop with physical cards — Mega Evolution has also arrived in Pokémon TCG Live, available on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows. Players can collect new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and earn exclusive rewards through the Mega Evolution Battle Pass, including a Mega Lucario ex deck at login. With continued play, Trainers can also unlock a Mega Gardevoir ex deck to further expand their collection.
Players have until November 13, 2025, at 10 a.m. PDT to unlock the Mega Evolution Battle Pass, so it’s the perfect time to jump into the action.
