Fans of the beat-em-up game Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind are in for a treat. Developer Digital Eclipse, under license from Hasbro, is rolling out a series of exciting new features and improvements. These updates include upgradeable Rangers, gameplay “morphers,” and special moves, with the first wave arriving this week. Additionally, a significant expansion to online multiplayer is set to launch in the spring.
This week’s update, available first on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, introduces several new gameplay features that ensure no two playthroughs of Rita’s Rewind will ever be the same. Nintendo Switch players will receive the update shortly afterward.
One of the standout features is the new skill point system, allowing players to adjust their preferred Ranger’s strength, defense, and speed. This customization gives each character variety and lets fans tailor their favorite Rangers to their playstyle. The introduction of “morphers” adds another layer of fun, changing elements like gravity and speed. Players can mix and match these modifiers for a unique experience or stick to the original gameplay mode where all Rangers are equally capable.
The update also brings new special moves, such as the Power Blast, which helps players fend off Robo Rita’s minions by knocking them back at the cost of some health. Additionally, the Ground Recovery feature allows heroes to quickly recover from enemy attacks, keeping the pace of battles fast and furious.
Looking ahead, a spring patch will significantly expand online multiplayer functionality. Previously, Rita’s Rewind supported three players on two separate consoles for a total of six online players. The new update will allow six players to each play on six separate machines using a peer-to-peer connection, enhancing the multiplayer experience.
Digital Eclipse and publisher Atari have also announced standard and collector’s physical editions of Rita’s Rewind for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, set to release on May 30, 2025. These editions will include all the new gameplay features and improvements, and pre-orders are available now.
