Indie developer Mooneye Studios has announced their upcoming cooperative adventure game, IKUMA: The Frozen Compass, during this year’s Triple-i Initiative showcase. The game is now available for wishlist on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Epic Games Store.
Embark on a Heartfelt Journey
Set in 1864, IKUMA tells the story of Sam, a cabin boy, and his loyal sled dog, Ellie, who find themselves stranded on an uncharted Arctic island. Players can either embark on this adventure solo, switching between the two protagonists, or team up with a friend in cooperative mode.
Survive the Harsh Arctic
Navigate through treacherous terrain and severe weather conditions, utilizing the limited tools available on the island. Players will need to fish, forage for food, and keep both Sam and Ellie warm to survive. As they explore the open world, they will uncover traces of a long-lost expedition and a dark secret hidden within the island.
A Tale of Friendship and Endurance
From the creators of the indie hit Lost Ember, IKUMA: The Frozen Compass is a touching tale of friendship, loss, and endurance. “We’re ridiculously nervous, yet thrilled, to finally be able to talk about what we’ve been working on in secret for the past five years,” said Tobias Graff, CEO and story writer at Mooneye Studios. “We cannot wait to hear what people think of IKUMA.”
Release and Availability
IKUMA: The Frozen Compass is set to release in 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players can wishlist the game now on Steam.
