The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia is gearing up for one of its most historic seasons yet. The MPL Malaysia Season 16 Playoffs are officially set for November 13–16, 2025, at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS), Selangor—Asia’s largest agro park, which will be transformed into an electrifying esports arena.
Tickets will be available starting October 10, 2025 at 3:00 PM GMT+8, and fans won’t want to miss out. Not only will the Playoffs determine Malaysia’s representative at the M7 World Championship, but it will also mark the final Playoffs under the current competitive model. Beginning in 2026, MPL Malaysia will evolve into an enhanced franchise format—making this event a once-in-a-lifetime chance for fans to witness history.
Why Season 16 Is a Historic Moment for MPL Malaysia
The MPL Malaysia Season 16 Playoffs are more than just another esports showdown. They represent the last chapter before the league enters a new era. Fans will have the rare chance to see the tournament in its existing format one final time, complete with high-stakes rivalries and elite-level gameplay.
The top two teams from Season 16 will earn Malaysia’s coveted slots at the M7 World Championship, where they’ll aim to capture a trophy that has long eluded the nation. On top of global glory, the eventual MPL Malaysia Season 16 champion will also claim the lion’s share of the USD 100,000 (~MYR 420,800) prize pool.
New Format: BO7 Lower Bracket Finals
Season 16 comes with a major format change: the Lower Bracket Finals will now be a Best-of-Seven (BO7) series.
“All our fans have been asking for more esports action in the Lower Bracket Finals, and we’re answering that call,” said Krystal Tan, Head of Business Development for Malaysia Esports at MOONTON Games. “This update ensures parity with MLBB’s other top-tier leagues while creating one of the most exciting Playoffs yet.”
Every Playoffs match will be a Best-of-Five (BO5), except for the Lower Bracket Finals and Grand Finals, which will both be BO7.
Ticket Discounts to Celebrate MLBB’s 9th Anniversary
To mark Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s 9th Anniversary, fans will enjoy a 20% ticket discount from October 10–16, 2025. Tickets are available across multiple categories, ensuring every fan has a chance to be part of the action.
Week 4 Recap: CG Esports Clinch First Playoffs Spot
Week 4 delivered big storylines as CG Esports (CG) became the first team to qualify for the Playoffs. Despite a shaky start with a 1-2 loss to AERO Esports on October 3, CG bounced back strong with a decisive win over Todak (TDK) on October 5, securing their place with 17 points.
A touching reunion moment saw CG captain Muhammad Danial “CikuGais” Mohamad Fuad embrace his former teammate Muhammad “Zahyed” Zaharan, highlighting the emotional stakes behind the competition.
Meanwhile, Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG) kept the pressure on by climbing to second place with 15 points, securing victories against Team Vamos (VMS) and GamesMY Kelantan (GMXK). SRG could potentially overtake CG in Week 5 if they defeat Team Rey (TR), thanks to stronger Aggregate Points.
Week 5 Preview: SRG’s Chance to Secure Playoffs Spot
SRG will open Week 5 with a crucial match against Team Rey (TR) on October 10 at 3:15 PM GMT+8. A win would secure their Playoffs ticket and keep their dream alive of topping the Regular Season table for the fourth consecutive time.
However, SRG must also keep an eye on CG, who face a difficult showdown against third-placed Homebois on October 11 at 12:30 PM GMT+8.
