MPL Malaysia

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia is turning up the heat this season with an explosive collaboration between Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and the upcoming sci-fi action blockbuster Predator: Badlands. The crossover was teased during Week 5 of MPL Malaysia Season 16, which also saw Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG) dethrone CG Esports from the top of the standings to secure an Upper Bracket Playoffs slot.

Predator: Badlands Crosses Into the Land of Dawn

The Predator: Badlands crossover marks another major pop culture milestone for MPL Malaysia, bringing together two global entertainment powerhouses. The collaboration will span multiple activations across the league’s broadcast and social media channels, including an exclusive fan screening of the film.

Set in a future where a young Predator outcast searches for his ultimate adversary on a deadly remote planet, Predator: Badlands is now showing in Malaysian cinemas.

Krystal Tan, Head of Business Development for Malaysia Esports at MOONTON Games, emphasized the growing synergy between esports and mainstream entertainment:

“This is the league’s second crossover with a major Disney franchise this season after TRON: Ares. It proves that MPL Malaysia has evolved into a cultural phenomenon. We’re not just building a competitive league anymore — we’re shaping Malaysia’s leading sports entertainment experience for today’s youth.”

“Children of MLBB” Celebrates Malaysia’s Gaming Icons

As part of MLBB’s 9th Anniversary celebration, MOONTON Games unveiled “Kami Anak MLBB” (“Children of MLBB”) — a campaign honoring Malaysia’s top content creators and gaming personalities.

Front and center are esports icons Muhammad “Soloz” Faris Zakaria and 7GL, who headline the star-studded roster that also includes LitharaLala, Makdi, Feekz, Peakhyung, Sultan Riq, DJY, Obot, Yennete, XK Penjahat, Dibo, Ombong Haha, and Aul.

Soloz, whose real-life journey inspired the Malaysian film Game of Life, shared heartfelt words about the community:

“The community makes MLBB special. Playing MLBB feels like home. Kami Anak MLBB — this is more than a slogan, it’s who we are.”

MOONTON Fulfills a Fan’s Birthday Wish

In a touching moment during MLBB’s 9th Anniversary festivities, MOONTON Games granted a Malaysian fan’s birthday wish — that all Malaysian players receive a free Elite skin.

This special reward became available in-game starting midnight on October 13 and runs for 48 hours, marking the first time a player’s wish has been brought to life in MLBB history. The gesture underscores MOONTON’s commitment to celebrating its passionate Malaysian player base through hyperlocal initiatives.

SRG Dethrones CG, Secures Playoffs Spot

On the competitive front, defending champions Selangor Red Giants OG Esports delivered a statement performance in Week 5. With decisive wins against Team Rey and Monster Vicious, SRG climbed to the top of the standings with 21 points and remain undefeated this season.

Meanwhile, CG Esports slipped to second place after a 1-2 loss to Homebois but remain well-positioned to clinch the second Upper Bracket Playoffs spot. CG only needs a single point against Team Vamos on October 18 to seal their spot.

Four Playoffs slots are still up for grabs as the Regular Season enters its final week.
Here’s how the race stands after Week 5:

  • Homebois (15 pts): Need one point to confirm Playoffs qualification.
  • Team Vamos (14 pts): Require one point from CG to secure their berth.
  • Monster Vicious (12 pts): Still in contention but need a perfect Week 6 and favorable results.
  • Untitled (10 pts): Must sweep GamesMY Kelantan 2-0 to qualify.

The Week 6 match schedule promises high-stakes action as teams battle for their final shot at the MPL Malaysia Season 16 Playoffs.
