MPL Philippines Season 15 Playoffs kicked off with Onic Philippines and Team Falcons advancing to the next round, spoiling TNC Pro Team’s playoff comeback and Twisted Minds’ playoff debut.
Both matches in the playoff kicker tallied identical 3-2 finishes in favor of Team Falcons PH and reigning world champions Onic Philippines.
Gold laners Duane “Kelra” Pillas and Marco “Super Marco” Requitano paved the way for both winning teams with match MVP citations in the nail-biting MPL Philippines Season 15 playoff marches.
Team Falcons PH vs. TNC Pro Team
With the series tied 2-2 and Game 5 at level, Angelo Kyle “Phewww” Arcangel’s (Luo Yi) Diversion play ambushed three TNC players, leaving the Phoenix undermanned during Team Falcons’ final siege.
TNC Pro Team went through a valiant effort, notching their first playoffs run for the first time in nearly three years and five MPL seasons.
Onic Philippines vs. Twisted Minds
Despite making the playoffs by a hairline, Twisted Minds showed grit against the reigning world champions.
Down 0-2, an undeterred Twisted Minds squad won two straight matches to force a Game 5 through a long-haul 27-minute matchup.
Jhonville “Outplayed” Villar tallied 8 kills, 2 deaths and 9 assists as he forced a rubber match.
The Hedgehogs however had other plans in Game 5, banking on a quick win to eliminate Twisted Minds.
Made up of Blacklist International’s core before the organization gave up on its franchise slot, Twisted Minds, led by veteran Salic “Hadji” Imam took the last ride ticket into the Final 6.
Head coach Kristoffer “Bon Chan” Ricaplaza was more than pleased with TWIS’ run.
“Hindi man namin nakuha yung gusto namin, sobrang proud pa rin ako sa inyo na despite may mga nanliliit sa’min ay kaya pa rin makisabay sa defending champions,” Bon Chan said.
