Marmalade Game Studio is bringing a dose of nostalgia to its digital adaptation of the classic murder mystery game, CLUE/CLUEDO. The fan-favorite 2016 suspects are making their grand return, accompanied by the option to play with the original 1949 rulebook.
Responding to popular demand, Marmalade has launched the 2016 Suspect pack, reintroducing the iconic characters – Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Reverend Green, Professor Plum, Dr. Orchid, and Mrs. Peacock – to the digital board. These characters join the contemporary 2023 cast, offering players a purely nostalgic experience without any specific character tasks.
“Bringing the 2016 characters to our game has been an exciting project for the team,” said Filipa Evangelista, CLUE/CLUEDO Producer at Marmalade Game Studio. “We know how much CLUE/CLUEDO fans love the nostalgic cast, and we can’t wait to see the response to their return.”
For long-time fans craving the original gameplay, Marmalade is also introducing the Retro Rules Set, a free game mode that reverts several changes made in the 2023 edition. This mode allows players to experience CLUE/CLUEDO as it was originally intended.
Key features of the Retro Rules Set:
- Starting Positions: Tokens begin on predetermined squares.
- Turn Order: Miss Scarlet always goes first; in her absence, the order is Mustard, White, Green, Peacock, and Plum.
- Suggestion Restrictions: Players can only make one suggestion per room entry, with a two-turn cooldown before making another in the same room.
- Movement Restrictions: Tokens cannot land or move through occupied squares.
- Accusation Restrictions: Accusations can only be made within a room.
- Clue Cards Exclusion: Clue Cards are removed from gameplay.
