The spooky, chibi world of Obakeidoro! is back—this time bigger, cuter, and more thrilling than ever. Japanese developer FREE STYLE, Inc. has announced that fans will get their very first look at Obakeidoro 2: Chase & Seek during PAX West 2025 in Seattle, running August 29 – September 1, 2025.
This marks the exclusive global preview of the highly anticipated multiplayer tag sequel, arriving soon on the Nintendo Switch™ 2.
A Spooky But Safe Multiplayer Tag Experience
Obakeidoro 2 builds on the charm of the original (Obakeidoro!—known as Bail or Jail on Steam), bringing a family-friendly twist on the asymmetric multiplayer genre. Unlike darker competitors like Dead by Daylight, this game swaps blood and gore for cute, spooky visuals that players of all ages can enjoy.
The rules are simple:
- Match Length: 3 minutes per game
- Team Setup: Humans (3 or 6 players) vs. Monsters (1 or 2 players)
- Player Count: Up to 8 players online
Humans must evade capture until time runs out, while Monsters use their unique abilities to trap every Human before the clock expires. Each Monster comes with its own special skills, encouraging creative strategies and team-based play.
PAX West 2025 Showcase – Booth #638
Visitors can try Obakeidoro 2: Chase & Seek at Booth #638 in the Arch Building, Level 4. Attendees can join matches with fellow fans or test their skills against CPU opponents.
To sweeten the deal, FREE STYLE Inc. is offering exclusive swag, including:
- Limited-edition Obakeidoro 2 hand fans
- Collectible postcards with demo access details
Supplies are limited each day, so fans are encouraged to stop by early.
Special “Players vs. Director” Matches
One of the highlights of the showcase will be the “Players vs. Director” challenge, held daily between 5 PM and 6 PM PT. Players will face off against Game Director Katsu Tanaka himself. Human teams that successfully escape his clutches will earn special physical rewards, including:
- Customized t-shirts
- Keychains
- Button sets
- Acrylic dioramas
- Pass holders
These matches will continue each day of PAX West until all prizes are claimed.
