Overthrown 1.0 Launches March 18 on Steam, Xbox, and PS5 With Massive Airship Update

Overthrown

The chaotic kingdom-building sandbox Overthrown is officially preparing for its full release. Publisher Maximum Entertainment has confirmed that the game will launch its Version 1.0 update on March 18, 2026, arriving on Steam, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PlayStation 5.

The 1.0 launch will coincide with the game’s biggest content expansion yet, the Airship Update, which introduces aerial combat, new enemies, additional maps, and expanded strategic gameplay.

Currently available through Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, Overthrown will also debut day one on Xbox Game Pass when the full version launches.

A Chaotic City Builder With Magical Mayhem

At its core, Overthrown blends city-building, survival strategy, and chaotic physics-based gameplay into one unpredictable experience.

Players rule as a monarch empowered by a mysterious soul-stealing crown that grants powerful magical abilities. Using these powers, rulers can literally throw objects, buildings, and resources to reshape their kingdom and defend their territory.

The goal is to build, expand, and protect a growing settlement in a dangerous wilderness filled with bandits, mutants, and other hostile threats.

The game supports solo play or cooperative multiplayer for up to six players, allowing friends to collaborate in building sprawling kingdoms or fending off waves of enemies together.

The Airship Update Takes Battles to the Sky

The upcoming Airship Update dramatically expands the scale of Overthrown by introducing airships and aerial warfare.

Players will be able to construct and command their own flying vessels, launching attacks on outlaw camps from above. These airborne machines provide powerful offensive capabilities but require mana to operate, forcing players to carefully manage resources.

This system adds a strategic layer to the gameplay: deciding when aerial power is worth the cost.

However, players won’t be the only ones controlling the skies. Outlaw factions will also deploy their own airships, turning aerial combat into a strategic arms race for sky dominance.

New Defenses: Cannon Towers

To combat airborne and ground threats, the update introduces a new defensive structure known as the Cannon Tower.

Unlike traditional siege weapons that rely on indirect fire, cannon towers deliver precise, direct attacks capable of targeting both airships and enemy forces on the ground.

Both players and outlaw camps can build these towers, making battlefield positioning and defensive planning even more important.

New Enemy Types Bring Greater Challenges

Outlaw camps are becoming more dangerous than ever with the addition of three new enemy units in the Airship Update.

Scrappers

These support units remain behind the front lines, repairing damaged structures and rebuilding defenses during combat.

Ringleaders

Heavily armored elite enemies who command outlaw camps. Only one can appear per camp, but they are significantly stronger than regular enemies.

Firestarters

Stealthy saboteurs that infiltrate player settlements at night, setting buildings on fire before disappearing into the darkness.

These new enemy roles add variety and complexity to encounters, forcing players to rethink their defensive strategies.

Meet the Devourer: A Terrifying New Creature

The Airship Update also introduces a dangerous new monster known as the Devourer.

If smaller creatures called Snappers are left unchecked, they can evolve into this massive beast over time. Once fully grown, the Devourer becomes a catastrophic threat capable of consuming entire buildings and even airships.

Players must remain vigilant or risk watching their hard-built kingdom literally disappear.

Three New Maps Expand the World

The update also adds three new levels, each designed around unique ecosystems and strategic challenges.

One of the most notable additions is the Highland Plateau, a high-elevation environment that emphasizes vertical terrain and aerial combat opportunities.

These new areas encourage players to experiment with airship strategies and rethink how they build and defend their settlements.
