Grinding Gear Games is closing out 2025 with one of its most ambitious expansions yet. Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids officially launches on December 13, 2025 SGT, delivering a powerful new class, massive endgame updates, and the full debut of the Fate of the Vaal League. Even better—players across PC, Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and the Epic Games Store can jump in for free from December 13–16 SGT.
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to return to Wraeclast, this update unleashes nature’s fury like never before.
Become Wolf, Bear, or Wyvern: The Druid’s Shapeshifting Mastery
The Druid finally arrives in Path of Exile 2, stepping out of the ruins of Ogham with the ability to fully embrace the wild within. Using a new class-exclusive weapon, the Talisman, he channels the magic of Draiocht to shapeshift into one of three deadly forms:
Wolf Form
Harness lunar magic to strengthen cold-infused attacks, freeze enemies in place, and summon a pack of spirit wolves to fight at your side.
Bear Form
A brute force titan, the Bear builds Rage to amplify every crushing blow. Its roars escalate from destructive to apocalyptic.
Wyvern Form
An aerial predator capable of devouring corpses mid-fight for bonuses. The Wyvern rains elemental destruction from above with fire, lightning, and sweeping wing attacks.
Outside of shapeshifting, the Druid wields both earth and storm magic. Erupt volcanoes, root enemies in place, or obliterate enemy lines with thunderous power. His adaptable kit includes the new Spell Totem, letting players summon a totem that automatically casts a chosen spell—activated by consuming Rage or Wyvern “meals.”
Two New Ascendancies: The Shaman and The Oracle
Path of Exile 2 pushes hybrid class design further with two Druid Ascendancy paths, each built to reinterpret spellcasting and transformation.
The Shaman
The Shaman consumes Rage to unleash devastating elemental sorcery—meteors, multi-element storms, and overwhelming magical effects.
With the ancient knowledge of the Azmerian Maji, Shamans unlock Runes and Idols enhanced by exclusive modifiers, allowing highly customizable builds. Investing in Bringer of the Apocalypse turns the Shaman into a living tempest.
The Oracle
The Oracle manipulates fate itself. Using Foresight, players receive premonitions of future skill activations—following these visions dramatically boosts damage.
With Converging Paths and Moment of Vulnerability, the Oracle strikes across two timelines simultaneously for lethal precision.
This Ascendancy also unlocks 130+ new passives, including rare abilities such as Self-Sacrificing and Corruption Endures, offering exceptional build depth.
Major Class Reworks, New Support Gems & Improved Performance
The Last of the Druids is not just a class update—it’s a sweeping overhaul touching nearly every aspect of Path of Exile 2.
What’s New:
- 30+ new Support Gems, including botanical explosions, cascading slams, and Lineage Supports.
- 11 new Unique items, plus dozens of reworks.
- 250+ new passive skills, expanding build variety across all classes.
- 90+ active skills fully rebalanced.
- Monster density overhaul: fewer swarms, better rewards, and healthier combat pacing.
- Delirium fog toned down for improved clarity.
- Significant performance boost: Up to 25% higher frame rates, reduced CPU load, better multithreading, and major stability gains on consoles.
This patch represents one of the biggest leaps in Path of Exile 2’s quality-of-life advancements.
Enter the Fate of the Vaal League and Rebuild a Lost Empire
The new Fate of the Vaal League invites players to confront corruption spreading throughout Wraeclast. Take down Vaal beacons, redirect their energy, and unlock access to Lira Vaal, an ancient customizable temple.
Temple Building, Room Crafting & Medallions
Players can construct a six-room temple layout that evolves with every run. Chambers may survive, decay, or be replaced—encouraging careful planning and experimentation.
Over a dozen room types offer unique enemies, rewards, and mechanics. Medallions introduce twists such as double-corruption, secret mechanics, and prototype Vaal enhancements.
New Vaal Crafting Systems
The Last of the Druids introduces powerful new corruption-driven crafting tools:
- Juatalotli’s Triumph – Reforges corrupted Vaal Uniques with new modifiers.
- Precursor Machine – Alters Tablets using ancient energy.
- Jiquani’s Triumph – Distorts Soul Cores.
- Kishara’s Acquisition – Attempts to salvage socketables with unpredictable results.
These systems deepen crafting pathways and encourage experimental builds.
Challenge Xipocado and Face the New Pinnacle Boss: Atziri
To delve deeper into Lira Vaal, players must defeat Xipocado, the Royal Architect. Survive this brutal encounter, and you’ll confront the legendary Queen Atziri herself—now reborn as a new Pinnacle Boss.
Defeating Atziri rewards Atziri’s Rule, a corrupted gem–empowering staff that unleashes Mirrors of Refraction across the arena. Projectiles that hit these mirrors split into novas, chaining across mirrors for massive screen-clearing power.
Abyssals Become a Permanent Endgame Feature
The Rise of the Abyssals system now goes core, including Atlas passives and new endgame Tablets.
Abyssal crafting is removed to streamline gameplay, but Tablet modifiers receive significant buffs to compensate.
