Pokemon Mega Evolutions will feature Mega Lucario EX and Mega Gardevoir EX.

Mega evolutions are coming back to Pokèmon TCG.

The Pokémon Company revealed the upcoming series during its “Pokémon Presents” livestream last February 27. This marks their comeback since the XY and Sun & Moon series.

How Mega Evolution Pokémon Work in Pokèmon TCG

Pokèmon unveiled Mega Lucario EX and Mega Gardevoir EX as the first Pokemon in the card series.

True to their word, Mega Pokemon will be tankier, having at least 340 HP(tankier than most meta cards in the existing format.) Knocking them out, however, will cost three prize cards.

Pokemon gave a sneak peek of the first set of Mega Evolution Pokemon – Mega Gardevoir EX and Mega Lucario EX, and both are already showing some promise. 

At Stage 2 with 360 HP, Mega Gardevoir EX is already the tankiest EX card yet. 

Mega Gardevoir EX (Psychic type, 360 HP) 

– (1P) Overflowing Wishes: Attach a Basic Psychic Energy card from your deck to each of your 

– (1P) Mega -Symphonia Attack: Does 50 damage for each Psychic Energy attached to all your Pokémon 

Meanwhile, Mega Lucario EX will be packing a punch (no pun intended.) 

Mega Lucario EX 

(1F) Aura Jab – Attach up to 3 basic fighting energy cards from your  discard pile to your benched pokemon in any way you like (130 damage)

(2F) Mega Brave – During your next turn, this pokemon cannot use Mega Brave. (270 damage)

New cards will also make these Pokémon even stronger. For example, Mega Lucario EX will get a card called Premium Power Pro, which adds 30 damage to Fighting Pokémon attacks.

When Can You Get These Cards?

The new Mega Evolution Pokémon cards will come out between October and November 2025. They will be part of the “I” regulation format, joining other sets like “Journey Together” and “Destined Rivals.” You can play with these cards until around spring 2027.
