The Land of Dawn is about to experience its boldest evolution. Moonton Games has officially announced that Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Project NEXT 2025 will roll out on September 17, bringing with it groundbreaking battlefield transformations through the highly anticipated Annual Map Change.
What Is Project NEXT?
Project NEXT is MLBB’s flagship annual update, designed to refine the overall gaming experience with hero reworks, meta-balancing, gameplay optimization, and now—massive changes to the battlefield. This year’s update takes things a step further with four brand-new map variations, pushing players to adapt their strategies in ways never seen before.
The Annual Map Change: Four New Battlefields
The highlight of Project NEXT 2025 is the introduction of four unique maps, each engineered to reshape lane strategies, hero dynamics, and team fights.
- Dangerous Grass: High-ground bushes now cover turrets, the Mid Lane, and the Lord’s pit. Ambush-focused heroes like Eudora and Saber thrive here, turning once-safe zones into deadly traps.
- Broken Walls: New shortcuts open across the battlefield, giving mobile heroes like Johnson more kill opportunities, while also offering escape routes for less agile champions. Junglers can even sneak into the Lord or Turtle pit from behind.
- Flying Cloud: A special platform near the base allows respawned heroes to hover for five seconds, making it easier to defend turrets, initiate team fights, or stop minion pushes.
- Expanding Rivers: Stronger currents now boost movement speed, helping heroes without dash abilities rotate and gank more effectively.
“By reimagining the Land of Dawn, we’re delivering the most impactful patch yet. These four maps redefine how players approach every match, while still keeping MLBB accessible and fun for all,” said Arnold Xie, Lead Developer at Moonton Games.
A New Hero Emerges from the Shadow Abyss
Project NEXT 2025 also introduces Obsidia, a deadly new marksman from the Shadow Abyss. Once a ruler of the abyssal depths, Obsidia brings chaos to the battlefield with her debut.
Alongside Obsidia, classic Abyss heroes such as Alice, Dyrroth, and Thamuz will receive major reworks, ensuring the Abyss faction stays dominant in the evolving meta.
