Selangor Red Giants OG Esports Crush Grand Finals, Set Sights on Global MLBB Glory at Esports World Cup 2025
The kings of Malaysian MLBB have done it again—faster, harder, and more dominant than ever.
In a night of sheer dominance, Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG) etched their names into Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) history by clinching their third consecutive MPL Malaysia title. At the MPL Malaysia Season 15 Grand Finals held on June 16 at Stadium Juara, SRG obliterated Homebois (HB) with a stunning 4-0 sweep in just 62 minutes and 53 seconds—the fastest grand final in MPL MY history.
The sold-out venue, packed with over 1,800 roaring fans, witnessed a legendary performance, as John “Innocent” Vincent Banal secured two Savages in the Finals and was crowned Finals MVP. He now holds the all-time record for most Savages in a single season with five.
Malaysia’s Best Head to Esports World Cup 2025
Both SRG and Homebois will now represent Malaysia at the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC), part of the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, next month. With a massive USD 3,000,000 (~MYR 12.7 million) prize pool on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Malaysia’s Natus Vincere Malaysia (NAVI MY) will also compete in the MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) at the EWC, vying for a historic USD 500,000 (~MYR 2.2 million) prize purse—one of the largest in women’s esports to date.
“Pantang Mengalah”: The Spirit of Champions
Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Adam Adli, delivered an impassioned send-off to the three national representatives, encouraging them to bring the “Pantang Mengalah” (Never Back Down) spirit to the international stage. He emphasized the unity that esports brings to the country:
“Let us set aside team rivalries and rally behind our national representatives. The world will witness our Malaysian spirit—undaunted, determined, and ready for greatness.”
Eyes on Riyadh: SRG Gunning for Back-to-Back International Titles
SRG isn’t just riding the high of local glory—they’re looking to defend their international crown. The reigning Esports World Cup 2024 and World Esports Championship winners are hungry for more.
Simon Lim, Chairman of SRG Esports, shared his thoughts:
“This three-peat is a reward for their relentless drive. The boys will rest, then come back laser-focused on MSC. We know every team is gunning for us, but we believe we can defend the title.”
